Inside Rhea Kapoor and Guntash Grewal’s Beautifully Curated Intimate Wedding

‘Rhebash’ in Marrakech!

A love story 'from' the 'GramRhea Kapoor and Guntash Grewal

Some love stories begin with grand gestures. Their story began with Instagram, music and what Rhea Kapoor calls “a little bit of stalking and a lot of destiny”. Fast-forward a few years, and that same instinctive pull culminated in Rhebash, a wedding that refused to fit neatly into any one mould. Hosted in Marrakech and shaped by the city’s colours, textures and spirit, Rhea and Guntash Grewal’s celebration was intimate, immersive and wildly joyful.

Rhea first noticed Guntash doing what he loves most, DJ-ing at his club in New Delhi. “I didn’t know his name, his story, or anything about him, but I remember thinking, ‘He carries a different energy,’” she recalls. A few Instagram searches later, conversations followed, and an unplanned meeting sealed the beginning. “It was nowhere close to a dramatic meet-cute but just two people sharing laughs,” shares Rhea. “We actually built our entire relationship without restaurants, vacations or fancy dates. Just two people talking for hours. It was love built slowly through voice notes, playlists, and ridiculous inside jokes.”

That same intentionality defined their wedding mood board. “The vision was clear from day one: meaningful yet experiential,” says Rhea. They weren’t interested in hosting a series of events, but creating a journey for themselves and their 120 closest people instead. That philosophy became Rhebash, a name born from the combination of their names and their shared belief in “a celebration of freedom in love”.

Planning a destination wedding in Marrakech came with its fair share of curveballs. “We eventually had to restart the process from scratch just five months before the wedding,” Rhea shares, navigating logistical hurdles, language barriers, and time zones. With Silhouette Events’ Aakriti and Deepak stepping in at the last minute for decor and production, Rhebash finally found its footing. “They were truly a blessing in disguise,” she says. “Safe to say, Rhebash was built on a lot of patience, faith and eventually without a planner (but coordinators).”

If there was one guiding force behind the aesthetic, it was the city itself. “We didn’t arrive with mood boards. We arrived with curiosity,” Rhea explains. From the hum of the medina to the spirituality embedded in the city’s textures, Marrakech shaped everything—including the venue. Selman Marrakech, with its Arab-Moorish architecture, equestrian spirit and views of the Atlas Mountains, felt like fate.

Each celebration unfolded as a chapter. The welcome event, ‘Berber Rhebash: Mystical Medina’, set the tone, with Rhea in a custom Gaurav Gupta couture creation inspired by mysticism and transcendence, and Guntash in a Bloni Atelier ensemble that balanced ceremonial structure with fluid elegance. Jewellery by Outhouse added sculptural drama, from the Medina Empress Necklace to a crystal plume brooch on Guntash’s lapel.

For ‘Les Jardins de Rhebash’, the theme was Moroccan Nomad, the mood shifted to something more spiritual and free-spirited. Rhea wore a custom Bloni Atelier gown embedded with clear quartz, paired with the Juliet Calot headpiece by Outhouse, while Guntash’s chikankari kaftan and quartz-detailed scarf echoed the theme of journey and discovery.

For the wedding ceremony, the Rhebash Union, the couple went more traditional. Rhea chose a Sabyasachi embroidered tulle lehenga in a soft champagne hue, while Guntash wore a Sabyasachi Moti Gulbagh sherwani inspired by the graceful majesty of a modern Maharaja of Patiala. Jewellery by DP Abhushan LTD added regal refinement. As Aman Kataria, Director of Outhouse Jewellery, explains, “Together, we reimagined bridal jewellery that proves less, when executed with intention and artistry, can be profoundly impactful.”

Music, food and decor were treated as storytelling tools for their wedding journey. “Music was the easiest part,” Rhea says. With Guntash being a passionate DJ, playlists were curated for each day. Menus followed the same narrative arc, with Moroccan flavours inspired by the souks on day one, refined international cuisine led by Chef Jean-François Piège on day two, and a comforting blend of Indian, Moroccan and global favourites on the final day. Decor evolved from high-energy authenticity to garden-inspired divinity, culminating in a mandap designed like a tree, symbolising shared roots.

Personal touches were everywhere. The couple designed their own invites, created detailed travel itineraries and wardrobe planners for guests, curated signature cocktails and even reserved a memory chair for their grandparents. One unforgettable surprise came courtesy of Guntash: a drone show that lit up the Marrakech sky with symbols from their story. “Seeing our story light up the Marrakech sky was unreal and extremely emotional for me,” Rhea says.

Aside from a thoughtfully planned wardrobe, beauty played a quietly powerful role in shaping the bridal look. Celebrity make-up artist Savleen Manchanda focused on “authenticity over perfection,” while celebrity hairstylist Marcelo Pedrozo describes creating “an effortless, ethereal aura, where hair serves as a natural extension” for the bride.

All the planning and preparations culminated in a moment that, according to the couple, made it all worth it. When they finally stood across from each other at the altar, amidst Hindu rituals, a Sikh Ardaas, and a vibrant Punjabi baraat, everything else faded away. “We felt the most present in that moment, whispering to each other: ‘We did it. It’s finally happening.”

By the end, emotions ran high. “Emotional. Grateful. Deeply fulfilled. And a little sad about it all being over in a jiffy!” is how Rhea describes feeling at the end of it all. Now settled in Dubai, the couple is stepping into their next chapter with the same philosophy that shaped their wedding, living life the ‘Rhebash’ way, rooted in presence, partnership and the freedom to love fully.
