  • Virat and Anushka's Wedding

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are one of the most celebrated couples of our time. They’ve been known to set quite the standard for couple goals, from their travel moments to the glimpses we’ve seen of them as a family with their daughter Vamika, they are and have always been an IT couple.

In fact, their courting phase was one of the most talked about what? back in the day. The duo, reportedly, met each other on the sets of a commercial in 2013 and ended up in a relationship that finally became known to the public in 2015. Then in 2016, when Virat defended Anushka on Twitter when she became an unfortunate target of trolling for the Indian cricket team exiting the World Cup, it became more evident that they were officially together.

The two finally tied the knot in 2017 in a breathtaking ceremony. It was an occasion that continued to inspire so many brides- to- be (what with Anushka Sharma setting some major bridal-wear goals with all of her wedding outfits!). The fact that the wedding took place in the scenic location of Tuscany, and had so many people in a chokehold and glued to their phones is proof of just how much of a pop-culture moment it was. In fact, we would go as far as to say that it was Virat and Anushka’s wedding that popularised the idea of out-of-country celebrity weddings! This is why, we’ve curated some of the best moments of the occasion as the couple hit their seventh year of marriage today! Read on…

Memorable Moments From Virat Kohli And Anushka Sharma’s Wedding

    The pastel moment

Let’s be honest, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s pastel wedding attire truly popularised the idea of wearing light and pastel hues for one’s wedding. Anushka’s ethereal Sabyasachi lehenga was one for the books! Everything from Virat Kohli’s Sabyasachi sherwani down to Sharma’s blush pink-hued jewellery with pink spinels and their light pink rose varmalas were all right out of a Pinterest board!

    Being under the Tuscan sun

The couple’s wedding took place in Tuscany, specifically at Borgo Finocchieto, a restored heritage property. Which in itself was an unforgettable little detail. Before Anushka and Virat, not many Bollywood celebrities were seen getting married outside of the country, let alone the European subcontinent. The couple’s wedding decorator Devika Narain, revealed that the floral arrangements were all about having lavender, soft pink and powder blue arrangements, which obviously went perfectly well with the duo’s wedding attire.

    The iconic bridal entry

As we all know, Anushka Sharma’s walk down the aisle was also another rarity that left us all awestruck and subtly daydreaming about finding the right song to walk down to the mandap on for ourselves. The actor walked towards her mandap on the song ‘Din Shagna Da’ from the movie Phillauri and set new goals about what it means to plan a wedding that is all softness and love!

Their wedding film of the decade

The fact that Virat Kohli thought their wedding film was celebrity filmmaker Vishal Punjabi’s best work and decided against sharing the entirety of it online probably says a lot about just how stunning their D-day video was. This is the reason they only shared a glimpse of the actual video, and even then, people were left gobsmacked by just how soothing and absolutely daydream-like it was!

Hard launching their wedding pictures like nobody’s business

The fact that their wedding was low-key, a secret one (with only close loved ones present, mind you) that was announced almost suddenly, without any importance placed on social media or media coverage, was honestly one of the coolest moves we’d seen a celebrity couple make back in 2017. It seems that ever since then, so many other celebrities such as Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani have followed in Virat and Anushka’s footsteps and decided to keep their weddings a much more private affair.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
