Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet is officially a married man now! The actor tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Lindsay Schweitzer, on September 8, 2025. The wedding was hosted at the couple’s dream house in Kansas City, Missouri and was an intimate affair. Their wedding date was a special one since it fell right in the middle of their birthday.
Eric Stonestreet’s Instagram Announcement
The couple shared the news of their wedding with their fans through an Instagram post on September 9, with photos from the ceremony. Eric’s post, a compilation of all their special moments, was captioned, ‘It’s my birthday and guess what I got.’
In the photos, the Emmy-winning actor looked sharp in a navy blazer that was paired with a blue tie while the bride looked stunning in a satin gown that was cinched with a sparkling crystal belt. Their celebration was personal, with live acoustic guitar music to accompany the newlyweds’ first dance.
Eric’s post was quick to grab attention as his Modern Family cast members chimed in with their playful comments. His on-screen husband Jesse Tyler Ferguson commented, “of all second marriages, this one is my favourite! I love you both! I’m so happy for you!!!!” This was followed by a comment by Jesse’s real-life husband, Justin Mikita who shared a heartfelt “congrats!”
Actress Octavia Spencer also joined in the wishes with her comments, “Congratulations! So happy for you both.”
The wedding location was special to the couple as it was exactly where Eric had always imagined it to be. In an interview with People in July, Eric and Lindsay had said that they planned to get married in their Kansas City home. “We got engaged and then all of a sudden got an opportunity to build a house, and I thought, no better way to start a relationship than literally building a foundation,” Eric had said.
Eric Stonestreet’s Love Story
Their love story had begun in June 2017 when the two had met at the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City after which People had confirmed two months later that the actor was dating the Pediatric nurse. By September of the same year, Eric was seen gushing about Lindsay on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, saying, “She calms me—she calms my nerves. I’m a very high-strung person.”
The couple dated for more than five years before the Modern Family Star popped the question to Lindsay in August. He later admitted he took his time to propose marriage, but he knew she was the one. “Everybody else that knows Lindsay was like, ‘What are you waiting for?’ So, it was time,” he had told People. Eric’s proposal was simple, and he called it “not a big production” but a moment that was special and was just for the two of them.
