This wedding season is special and not just for all the blingy and grand weddings that are taking place. Indian Javelin Thrower, Neeraj Chopra and his wife, Himani Mor, who tied the knot on January 16th 2025, have finally hosted their long-delayed reception, and it was every bit a grand affair. While the couple had gotten married silently in a private ceremony in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, their reception, held almost 11 months later, was absolutely the opposite of their wedding ceremony.

A two-part celebration, they hosted the first part of their reception on December 25 in Karnal, and everyone from their relatives to their supporters and well-wishers was in attendance for the grand celebration. It was then followed by an even larger event in New Delhi on December 27.

Neeraj Chopra, at his first reception, wore a black sherwani with gold buttons and a small red pocket square while his wife, Himani, was dressed in a deep maroon bridal outfit detailed with heavy gold floral embroidery. The second reception saw the couple in coordinated colours as both donned black with a golden design on them. Himani’s dupatta was draped gracefully as she wore traditional chooda bangles with mehendi on her hands, while her hair was styled in soft waves. The couple were captured beautifully against the floral backdrop that was filled with pink and white flowers.

However, this was not it. Both the receptions drew several of the big names from both the political sphere as well as the sports industry but what made their reception even more special was the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the chief guest at the celebration held at The Leela Palace in Delhi. He had also marked his attendance at the reception that was hosted in Karnal where he blessed the couple as he gifted them an idol of Lord Ram. Besides PM Modi, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda had also joined the celebration in Karnal with several senior leaders from the state where they met the couple and shared photos. Other attendees included names like Haryana Assembly Speaker Harwinder Kalyan, BJP state president Mohan Lal Badoli and former President Ram Nath Kovind.

Besides the political leaders, many sportspersons were also seen at the couple’s reception in Karnal, including Boxers Rajesh Kumar Rajound and Manoj Kumar, along with popular Haryanvi artists such as Renu Duhan and writer Sanjeet Saroha.

The couple’s reception in Karnal hosted more than 2,500 people, and their menus were carefully curated to fit all guests. Their catering teams were brought in from Mumbai, and the spread matched the simple home-style food that the Indian Javelin thrower enjoys at his in-laws' house, leaning towards Haryanvi flavours.

What remained a curious question for most was the reason behind the delayed reception. According to reports, Neeraj’s javelin season had just begun in January when the couple had tied the knot, and his training demanded a lot of attention, due to which a celebration of this cadre was impossible at the time.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
