For nearly three decades, the dynamic duo that is Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna has served us with impeccable craftsmanship with a side of sartorial drama, all while being relevant, always. While their enduring influence on the fashion scene can be a case study in itself, it’s in fact how strong and sultry their pieces are that consistently sets the brand apart.

In a conversation with Manifest, Rohit and Rahul talk about their favourite thing about Indian weddings, what inspires them to create, and the upcoming FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend!

In Conversation With Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna

Manifest: What inspires you to create every day?

Rahul Khanna: "Well, I think people. We love meeting people, we love to travel…and excited brides and grooms—that really is our inspiration."

Rohit Gandhi: "The inspiration also is the feeling that people get from inside when they are wearing good clothes, and they are really, really happy."

Manifest: What is your favourite part about Indian weddings?

Rohit Gandhi: "My favourite part about Indian weddings is when love comes together and when two people get together to become one."

Rahul Khanna: "Lots of drama on the final day!"

Manifest: What are some of the colours that will rule the wedding season, according to you?

Rahul Khanna: "Monotone is special to us. But other hues like ivory, muted rose is also here to stay. This year, we are adding a little bit of colour. So, stay tuned, stay surprised!"

Rohit Gandhi: "We are excited to showcase the creation because we have turned to a colour which was earlier a big no for us but has grown on us immensely."

Manifest: What menswear elements are having a moment this season?

Rohit Gandhi: I think men these days are really excited to shop—earlier, women used to shop for men. For us, what’s exciting is men now want to stand out...they want to look good and be noticed for the same."

Rahul Khanna: "Men, today, don’t want to be overshadowed. They are turning to big lapels, maximalist tuxedos, sherwanis with intricate, Indian embroideries."

Manifest: What is the one thing that makes the FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend stand apart from any other wedding exhibition?

Rahul Khanna: "Well, I think the selection of designers—it’s a one-stop shop destination, and the best place for all the best designers in the country to showcase their talent. We believe you can’t find a better showcase anywhere else in India."

Rohit Gandhi: "The most exciting bit is that it's been hosted by FDCI, which is the most important organisation for fashion in India."

Rahul Khanna: "I just want to say that may you manifest your beautiful day with the FDCI Manifest wedding weekend!"

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.

The fact that it comes with band, baaja and baraat — what's not to love? And that is the reason our first issue celebrates:
    THE NEW BRIDE.
