As one-half of the popular luxury lifestyle content creator duo TheCisterCo, Avantika Chhabria knows the importance of curating moments that are wholly unique and special. This is why her meticulously planned wedding was picture-perfect, even when everything that could go wrong, went wrong!

The influencer married her long-time boyfriend Divyamm Batra in a traditional Hindu ceremony at the Anantara Jewel Bagh in Jaipur earlier this month. The wedding was a celebration of their love story that began nearly two decades ago. “We first met in 7th grade when two branches of our school unexpectedly merged. Funny enough, though, we had crossed paths briefly before that at my best friend's birthday party!” recalls Avantika. After getting to know each other all those years ago, the couple soon began dating and 15 years later, Divyamm decided to take Avantika by surprise and popped the question during one of their trips to Bangkok.

“He pulled off the ultimate surprise with a rooftop proposal in Bangkok!” says Avantika, “To make it even more special, my friends joined in and surprised me with a flash mob dance right there on the rooftop.”

The romantic proposal led the newly engaged couple straight to the mad and wonderful world of wedding planning. They enlisted the help of wedding planning company Discovery Events to help convert their dreams into reality. When asked about what took her by surprise during the planning process, she says, “One thing that surprised me was how important it is to be mindful of pricing and cuts. It really highlighted the value of working with trusted vendors who are transparent and fair, making the whole experience much smoother.”

Spanning two days, the destination wedding was filled with moments that celebrated the couple’s love story and the small moments that made it all special for them. Along with her friends and family, the influencer also took her 343 K-strong online family along with the journey. “It was such a special experience to give everyone a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into planning a wedding. Sharing the journey with my audience actually kept me motivated to put my best into everything we planned. It made the process even more meaningful!” she says.

The style influencer's favourite part of the wedding planning process was putting all her outfits and jewellery together. She ensured her distinct fashion sense translated to her wedding wardrobe too. For the chooda ceremony, the bride repurposed an old Banarasi sari that was passed down from her grandmother and converted it into a sharara set.

Their welcome dinner saw Avantika wearing a chic Self Portrait dress with ruffled tiers and a Coquette core-inspired bow in her hair.

For the mehndi ceremony, the bride wanted something playful and vibrant that could allow her to surprise the groom with a choreographed dance. She went with an Abhinav Mishra lehenga that encapsulated everything she was looking for.

The Marrakech-inspired sangeet ceremony called for a classic Manish Malhotra lehenga that’s perfect for dancing the night away.

Although Avantika had imagined herself in a modern outfit for the main ceremony, she couldn’t deny the allure of a classic Tarun Tahiliani lehenga for the pheras. The blush lehenga, with vibrant accents of orange, teal, green and red, was elevated with a custom veil by the designer.

Despite all the meticulous planning, some surprises brought chaotic fun and laughter to the wedding ceremony, especially when it started raining during the outdoor mehndi ceremony and hampered their pre-planned activities. The couple turned lemons into lemonade by hosting an impromptu rain dance party for their loved ones.

This is why, the bride says, she wouldn’t change a single thing about her wedding. “It was everything I dreamed of! Every single detail matched my expectations, and more than that, I was so happy in the moment, surrounded by so much love. I honestly couldn’t find a single thing to fault!”

If there was one thing she felt she manifested for her wedding, it was her entry. “I envisioned a dreamy entrance with a long, gorgeous veil and a song that Divyamm and I both connect with. While I planned every detail, the actual moment was even more magical than I had imagined.”

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
