When childhood friendship turns into a love story, magic tends to follow, and that’s exactly what unfolded at Kriti and Aditya’s destination wedding in Khao Lak, Thailand. “We’ve been friends since high school,” says Kriti, “But we really connected years later when Aditya was studying in Switzerland and I was living in London.” What began as a simple conversation turned into hours of talking every day. “It was so effortless. It just felt right from the very beginning.”

The romance hit its cinematic high in Paris, on November 11th, at exactly 11:11 pm. “Kriti thought we were going to Amsterdam for a friend’s birthday,” laughs Aditya. “So she packed all the wrong clothes.” Luckily, he had quietly tucked a dress into his bag. Under the sparkling Eiffel Tower, he proposed, creating what both call “one of the most special moments of our lives.”

When it came to the wedding, the couple envisioned something intimate and full of warmth. “We wanted it to feel personal and beautiful without being over the top,” says Kriti. The beach felt like a natural choice—relaxed yet luxurious, where guests could feel looked after and at ease. JW Marriott Khao Lak became the perfect tropical canvas for their three-day celebration, where every moment was designed to feel personal, layered, and joyful.

It began with a sun-soaked Surf & Turf welcome lunch featuring globe guestbooks, a perfectly styled coconut bar, and the easy laughter of friends reunited. As the sun set, the mood transformed into a rainforest-inspired sangeet straight out of The White Lotus, with lush greens, hanging florals, and immersive LED visuals, turning the evening into a cinematic spectacle. The sit-down dinner that followed was all soft blush tones and intimate warmth, where butter candles and custom matchboxes opened the meal, and laughter filled the air. Later, guests danced their way into a Roman nightclub-inspired afterparty complete with statues, neon lights, and a ball pit.

As a designer herself, Kriti had a crystal-clear vision of what she wanted her wedding to look and feel like. “It was busy, but honestly, I loved every bit of it,” she says. The Wedding Galore brought that vision to life with their signature touch—poetic yet precise, thoughtful yet spontaneous. Guests were treated to The Glam Room, a curated salon experience complete with champagne, florals, and pampering touches. From the curated cocktail menus to the wild playlists that got everyone from across the world dancing together, every detail carried a little bit of “us,” as Kriti puts it.

For the wedding day, Kriti wore a gold lehenga by Falguni Shane Peacock, which was elegant, classic, and glowing against the beach’s golden sunset. Aditya chose looks that complemented hers, timeless and effortless. For the mehendi, she wore Rahul Mishra, and for the cocktail, a sculptural gown by Gaurav Gupta. “There wasn’t one big moment of realisation,” says Aditya about knowing she was the one. “It was just a gradual, certain feeling. When you know, you know.”

The Anand Karaj unfolded under a surreal acrylic mandap dripping with florals, its reflection dancing in the ocean waves. As the ceremony ended, the couple walked hand in hand, surrounded by laughter and teary smiles. The sit-down dinner that followed became one of their most cherished memories. “It felt like a dinner surrounded by family and close friends rather than a formal event,” says Kriti. “Each toast touched our hearts.”

Just when she thought the surprises were over, Aditya’s family unveiled a giant “Welcome to the Family” poster during the cocktail night, filling the evening with laughter and cheers. “It was such a fun and heartfelt moment—the perfect ending to the night,” she says.

The couple worked with wedding planning company The Wedding Galore to create a celebration that was about creating a world that reflected who the couple truly were: thoughtful, stylish, and deeply connected. “From the first conversation, they understood our personalities,” says Kriti. “Everything they did felt elegant but never forced.”

If the wedding revealed anything about the couple, it was how seamlessly they balance each other. “Kriti always gets what she wants,” laughs Aditya, “and I’ll always find a way to make it happen.” Looking ahead, the two are excited for more of what brought them here—travel, laughter, and everyday adventure. “We’ve always made a point to enjoy the little things,” says Kriti. “That’s exactly how we want the rest of our life to be—full of warmth, joy, and adventure.”

Here's wishing Kriti and Aditya a lifetime of togetherness and joy.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
