If you thought that you’ve already seen just how big a big fat Indian wedding can truly get, wait till you hear this one. A billionaire Indian family is reportedly hosting a destination wedding in Nha Trang, a coastal city in Vietnam, with a budget of over ₹47 crore. The wedding, scheduled for December, is touted to become the biggest Indian wedding ever organised in Vietnam.

While the identity of the family is still unknown, we do know that it will be a multi-day wedding extravaganza, with more than 1,400 guests expected to fly in from India, travelling on chartered flights. According to reports, the guests will fly from India to Cam Ranh International Airport in Vietnam, before checking into a luxury hotel in Nha Trang, followed by a 4-day long celebration.

Reportedly, more than 600 people will be involved in planning this wedding, across operations, hospitality, entertainment, F&B, logistics, production etc. The wedding will be co-planned by Vietnam-based event management company Blue Lemon Vietnam Co. Ltd., Ranjeet Jain Weddings from India, and Inventum Global from Turkey. And, because Indians really take food seriously, the family is flying down their own chefs from India to prepare the food throughout the events.

Just for a little perspective, the Indian weddings hosted in Vietnam in the past had a guest list of 300-500, which makes this wedding several notches higher in scale. Given the numbers, naturally, it has also got the local authorities of Vietnam involved. The government is already said to be preparing for the logistics, security, immigration and overall chaos that comes with hosting a wedding of this size and grandeur.

The Bigger Objective of Vietnam

Here’s the interesting part, though: Vietnam sees India as a big market for luxury destination weddings, and tourism, in general. They are looking to leverage India's expanding destination-wedding market and actively position themselves as a potential premier luxury wedding destination for affluent Indian families. And that’s what makes this wedding so important for them. It only underlines the staggering size and growth of the destination wedding industry. For now, it’s all eyes peeled for this much-awaited wedding. Watch our space for more.
