Take notes because the person you like can text you back.

We are happy to report that childhood homies, Medha Vishwanath and Jules Poincot, got married after seven years of dating and living in six different countries (just dodging the seven-year itch!). This is their story of love, life and manifestation.

All it took was a text from Jules to Medha to change their lives. The childhood friends-turned-couple used to spend a lot of time studying together, playing truth and dare, having water fights and more. Medha was all in her feels when she realised she had fallen for a French boy named Jules. “In 2007, I moved to Bangalore from California and Jules too moved to the city from France. Never in my wildest dreams had I thought my teenage self would fall in love with a French boy from Mulhouse who had a mohawk haircut,” laughs Medha as she begins narrating her story of finding love.

Fifteen years later, that feeling hasn’t lessened. It seems that true love will always give you butterflies no matter how much time has flown by. “Who would have thought that the boy I sneaked out of my home to meet with would be my husband!” Medha shares.

Jules flew from France to Turkey and then to California to propose to Medha in the middle of a desert during the COVID pandemic. She shares, “I initially thought it was too good to be true, but as we started our long-distance journey and I saw how committed Jules was to me and our relationship, it was a no-brainer. Jules’s eyes radiated kindness that drew me in from the beginning. It’s not even his eyes, it is just him, his entire personality and he is undeniably one of the most generous people I’ve ever known,” Medha reveals. We collectively go “aww!” as she goes on to disclose more details from their wedding day.

The couple started planning their wedding and decided to get married in January 2022 in Bekal, Kerala. “Our wedding destination had a deep connection to India, the country where we first met as children. However, we wanted to step away from the bustling city and immerse ourselves in the tranquil beauty of nature. Our memories of going on a trip to Kerala during school sparked the idea of tying the knot in this enchanting place,” Jules adds. Sitting in different continents, the couple stumbled upon Taj Bekal. “Situated on the banks of the Kapil River, with the backwaters on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other, the property truly fit the bill. The guys at Taj Bekal understood the assignment and decorated the venue in a rustic manner,” says Medha.

As the bride would have it, Medha entered the venue via a raft wearing a gorgeous white Sabyasachi sari (Hello Alia, Medha did it before!)—just like the romantic reels we’ve seen on Instagram. Medha recalls, “As I was getting out of the raft, I could see Jules wiping away a tear.” That is when it hit the couple that the day was finally here. All their moments of love had led to this moment. Surrounded by their best friends and family members, the whole weekend was nothing less than a party. Missed sleep, laughter echoing through the corridors and rosy moments made for a sentimental wedding ceremony. And that, kids, was how Jules married the girl of his dreams.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
