Sangeeta Nandi and Michael Gillet’s love story is an affirmation that love transcends boundaries and cultures. The Indian bride and British groom’s fateful meeting happened in a setting straight out of a particularly delightful rom-com, their workplace. What began as a friendship evolved into something deeper, especially during the pandemic.

While their backgrounds might have been different, what with Sangeeta being born and raised in Delhi and Michael being raised in Bristol, their shared interests and values began to make them realise that they might have found someone special.

According to Sangeeta, Michael’s unwavering belief in their relationship and his persuasive nature helped win her heart and made her say ‘Yes!’ to his proposal. It also helped that Micahel chose to propose to Sangeeta in the picturesque Mykonos!

The couple enlisted the help of luxury wedding design company Konark Events to plan their nuptials in Jaipur. “For the wedding as soon as I saw the step well the vision came along to use that for our main event,” says the bride, “The original brief we shared with them was quite specific: we wanted a spick and span setup with meticulous detailing and a lot of unique elements such as a perfume bar, Jaipur print inspired decor and for the main wedding a larger-than-life set up such as inspired by a  Sanjay Leela Bhansali set.”

The pre-wedding ceremonies captured the essence of their relationship beautifully. The high tea and Haldi theme brought together their British and Indian cultures together, much like how the black tie theme for their cocktail night did. The casino-themed cocktail night also highlighted their love story’s origin, as the two met while working for a gaming and betting company.

The fun-filled days led to the wedding ceremony held in the Bawri at Alila Fort. The couple took their vows on a unique floating mandap, surrounded by lush greenery and a shower of flowers. “My favourite part of the wedding was the wedding ceremony itself,” says Sangeeta, “It was in the most magical place with candles filling the step well as the sunset and we were engulfed with twilight. The ceremony was beautiful and full of love and magic. It stands out in my mind as the most special time of the whole three fantastic days.”

After the dreamy wedding ceremony, the couple, and their dog, are now focussed on building a beautiful life together as they live their Happy Ever After.
