Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar’s pre-wedding festivities have officially begun. Their first pre-wedding event was an intimate prayer ceremony, where we saw the entire Kapoor clan decked up in colourful traditional outfits. While the bride wore an embellished gold lehenga with a vibrant phulkari dupatta from Itrh, the groom chose to wear a monotone red kurta with mirror-work detail. Much like Anshula, the ladies of the Kapoor family chose to celebrate rich, earthy crafts for the occasion. From Bandhini to Patola, Indian craftsmanship took center stage. What really caught our eye among the sea of looks however, was Sonam Kapoor’s outfit.
Sonam chose to wear a breathtakingly beautiful custom Itrh ensemble. Styled by Rhea Kapoor and Shereen Sikka, the look featured a gold tissue silk kurta with a flared silhouette, paired with balloon pants in the same tone. The silhouette of the kurta was similar to a short anarkali, and it also came with churidar sleeves. We’re particularly enjoying how the kurta is paired with balloon pants, as opposed to churidar pants or a traditional dhoti salwar. She styled the look with a matching tissue dupatta embellished with ghungroos, worn across her kurta. She also added a second dupatta, this time in chikankari, that she draped across one shoulder. With an ivory hue, it broke the monotony of the otherwise monochrome outfit.
The actress added a splash of green to the look with the jewellery—a necklace, a pair of chandbalis, and a chunky ring with green gemstones, all from RAH Jewels. For the shoes, she chose to wear a pair of embroidered mules from Fizzy Goblet. And our favourite part of the look? Her elephant-shaped bag! The quirky little bejewelled bag, made by Jewel Saga in collaboration with Itrh, goes to show that the shapeshifter bag trend is not going anywhere any time soon.
To complement the look, Sonam’s hair and make-up were minimal. She wore her hair down, styled in a poker straight, middle-parted hairstyle and paired this with kohled eyes, minimal eyeshadow, barely-there blush and a neutral glossy lip. She accentuated the complete look with a bindi.
