They skipped the overwater sun-kissed villas in the Maldives or even the cliffside glamour of the Amalfi Coast. And for good reasons. For their new post-wedding getaway, Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar chose the untamed luxury of Kenya’s Maasai Mara. It replaced the usual beach or city backdrop with golden sunrises in the wild, lush safari drives, witnessing wildlife in private game drives and more.
Anshula took to Instagram to share pics of their holiday and they sure drive up wanderlust. If you are planning your post-wedding getaway, take a cue from the scenic stops and the fun that they had.
There’s a distinct charm that such a safari holiday brings up and that made for the perfect start to the day for the couple. From the golden unfiltered sunshine at dawn to their first meal of the day outdoors in the open, set up by the staff, it was unforgettable. Post that, it was time to step into an open safari vehicle and embark on some fun.
The key part of the day was driving into the open savannas to watch the African wilderness come alive. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is globally renowned as one of the world's most spectacular wildlife sanctuaries, known for its stunning topography and its role in the Great Wildebeest Migration.
The spotlight here is on The Big Five: catching a glimpse of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and buffaloes! And for Anshula and Rohan, they sure kicked this off their bucket list!
Anshula posted about their experience of witnessing the wild at close quarters and wrote: "Can’t believe we got to witness a lioness hunt IRL 🦁👀🎯."
Both Rohan and Anshula had their holiday dressing on point! Set against the raw wilderness of Kenya's wild grasslands, Anshula’s holiday wardrobe saw her embrace safari chic—with easy silhouettes, earthy tones and relaxed dressing. Rohan complemented that palette of browns with his green fleece jacket and shirt.
Amid all the wildlife and romance came one particularly relatable honeymoon moment. In a video shared from the trip, Rohan asks Anshula why she is glued to her phone while surrounded by the wilderness. She quipped: "The lions can wait, my delivery bhaiya needs his OTP 🙈" Her lines perfectly sum up what everyone goes through when it comes to leaving all else behind to share that OTP. “Always multitasking 🙌🙌❤️”, replied dad Boney Kapoor.
A stunning way to view the grassy savannah and its wildlife and rivers from above, is via a hot air balloon ride, and the couple did just that. Anshula and Rohan loved the experience as she gave it the seal of approval with her words, "Consider this your sign to put a hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara on your bucket list 💯"
The travel pictures sure got their family and friends loving it all as actress Janhvi Kapoor too, shared a compliment for Anshula with the words: “Ur glowing,” It sure summed up Anshula and Rohan's joy at being on the safari getaway!
