Matches are made in heaven. And here, they come with a strong foundation in every sense imagined. Alila Bishangarh—a stunning property that rises from the rugged Aravalli landscape just a few hours from Delhi—plays host to these love stories, sealing them with grandeur, tradition and charm.

It’s no surprises then that the 233-year-old heritage resort—now under Hyatt’s Alila canopy—has been the backdrop for a number of high-profile weddings such as that of Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth, and so many more. With a venue being one of the most important aspects of the big day for any one, it is no wonder that this majestic property has been ruling the charts when it comes to couples seeking a luxury destination for their celebrations.

The uber luxe retreat stands tall with its stone walls and majestic facade

Dramatic Presence
Little matches up to Alila Bishangarh’s presence. Once a warrior fort, today it stands as an uber-luxe retreat—giving guests a glimpse of its history, architecture with Mughal Rajput influences, and contemporary features. The walls are finished with modern adaptations of traditional surkhi and araish, almost magically glistening post sunset, as they echo the sparkle and vibe of the city. A night’s stay here invokes a sense of erstwhile royalty, with felt in the well-appointed 87 rooms and suites, elegant bedroom villas and 10 tented suites. Whether it's a sangeet soiree, a mehendi celebration or main day rituals, this place lends a unique appeal to each of the wedding functions.

The sense of royalty and tradition reverberates through its palatial courtyards and arched corridors

Private Sanctuaries That Offer A Taste of Royalty
The best part of any visit to any place that carries legacy and tradition is the story is tells and here, it reverberates not just through its tales, but also its beautiful environs. The palatial courtyards, arched terraces and turrets, all symbolising Shahpura royalty, make for an apt frame to the big Indian wedding. It is also here that Indian hospitality shines bright in its showcase of culinary traditions. There are standout private spaces at the property, each with its own charming vibe.

The elevated Kachchawa Deck has one of the best views of the Aravalli Hills. You relax here to the crisp, quiet night as handcrafted courses make their way to you, making for an unforgettable meal.

Another serene, nature-driven space is Farm-To-Table that brings guests under the canopy of twilight as they relish food prepared by ingredients sourced from village farms.

Tucked inside the fort, the ethereal Madhuvani Courtyard lit by soft candlelight is about curations and soft conversations while the Nazaara Chattri Table perched atop the fort’s edge is where dining turns into a cherished experience with traditional Rajasthani recipes slow cooked in a sandpit.

Dining under the stars makes for a romantic proposition at the property's outdoor restaurants

Setting the tone for romance are special dining spaces that flow in sync with the soulful atmosphere. Time seems to stop at the Haveli Terrace, an outdoor space that seems to glow with the fort making for an enchanting backdrop at night. Another much-cherished dining date is made at Baori, Alia Fort Bishangarh’s stepwell that comes to life with spices and the flicker of lanterns.

With storytelling being such an important part of a wedding, guests choose from a number of hyperlocal experiences here

Immersive Experience For Guests
Today, spectacle aside, storytelling has become such a huge part of the wedding celebrations with couples wanting their friends and family to share different experiences all through. Alila Bishanhgarh does just that as it gets hyperlocal and traditional with its plan, Alila Moments. It’s a series of curated experiences that see guests immerse in the vibrant heritage of the surroundings through food, song, and educational excursions that trace the history of the land. You cannot miss three of them: Little Treasure, that kickstarts things off with a wellness and a community spin. A relaxed walk, followed by a yoga session and a picnic-style Ayurvedic breakfast aim to leave one feeling restored and revitalised, and perfect for that anti-stress unwind in the midst of the wedding.

Why not cook like a local? Daya Ki Rasoi, a 70-minute experience along the Madhuveni River, gives you whip up an authentic Rajasthani meal, grinding spices with a mortar and pestle, kneading millet flour into dough for bread and firing up a traditional sigdi (earthen stove), all to stories about local culture. There’s also Poetic Moments, a six-hour poetry session guided by an Urdu scholar that begins in the fort to the beat of nagadas, finally inviting for some pause and reflection.

Intimate gathering or a grand celebration, you’ll find the best bespoke indulgences at Alila Bishangarh. Its name translates to ‘surprise’ in Sanksrit and clearly, there’s no shortage of these here, where it’s about luxuriating in villas or tented suites or even in its heartfelt, intimate experiences. It’s a postcard of love, alright!
