Kiara Advani’s rise has been anything but formulaic. In just a decade, she’s gone from the girl-next-door in Fugly to one of the industry’s most stylish women. Off-screen, she recently embraced motherhood, but it’s her fashion journey, particularly in Indian wear, that’s just as captivating. From her gilded Manish Malhotra sari at the Filmfare Awards, slinky and molten like liquid light to her soft-pink Anita Dongre lehenga at Armaan Jain’s wedding, styled with fresh jasmine in her hair, she always understood the assignment.

The actress is known to effortlessly transition between traditional Indian attire, mixing it with fashion-forward contemporary looks. Whether it’s her love affair with structured silhouettes, bold prints or experimenting with fabrics such as sequin, feathers or metallic sheers, she has always given us modern twists paired with traditional drapes.

In a lime green embroidered organza saree with a floral blouse, Kiara channels old-school charm. The soft pleats, paired with hot pink glass bangles and a low bun, Kiara proves that simplicity can feel just as luxe as sequins.

Molten gold moment in Manish Malhotra

For the awards season red carpet, Kiara turned up in a slinky gold saree with a matching barely-there blouse. Equal parts drama and disco, this was a throwback to Bollywood glamour reinterpreted for the Instagram age.

In a pastel-beige embellished Tarun Tahiliani with a dramatic fishtail silhouette and all-over beading. The structured bodice, with its corset detailing and sweetheart neckline, was balanced by a sheer, diaphanous drape that added movement to the overall look. Kiara paired a diamond necklace with a soft retro wave in her hair giving pure vintage glamour

A maximalist spin on minimalism, Kiara opted for a JJ Valaya sari styled with bold contrasts. The zebra-printed drape, belted at the waist with a leather buckle, played with structure and fluidity in equal measure. Paired with a sharp, plunging black blouse and oversized jhumkas, the look felt grounded in tradition but entirely modern.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
