Bollywood star Aamir Khan tied the knot with his long-term partner and entrepreneur Gauri Spratt in a private civil wedding ceremony on Sunday. It took place at the actor’s Mumbai residence, marking a departure from the extravagant, meticulously styled ceremonies that celebrities often gravitate towards. With close family and friends in attendance, everything about the nuptials was understated and low-key, including the couple’s sartorial choices.
Aamir, for one, has been sporting some really cool, niche fashion choices, that most people would see as an acquired taste—nose piercing, Akota earrings, handlebar moustache—and his wedding look was no exception. He wore an effortless, draped kurta and dhoti in ivory, paired with a brooch, and—wait for it—a traditional silver anklet! From Vijay Derverakonda’s jewellery-galore look at his wedding, to Aamir Khan’s anklet, jewellery seems to be the flavour of the season for grooms. We’re particularly loving Aamir’s alt take on jewellery. Minimalistic, earthy grooms, take notes!
The bride also offered a masterclass in minimalism. Gauri wore a muted ivory lehenga to match the groom’s outfit. The full-sleeved, monotone, floral lehenga was equal parts elegant, low-key, and super stunning. She also kept the hair and make-up minimal. She wore her hair in a messy, side braid, styled with side-swept bangs. She adorned the braid with baby’s breath flowers, which went beautifully with her ivory outfit. She complemented it with simple, minimal make-up that allowed her beautiful features to take center stage. For the jewellery, she went for layered necklaces—from a collar necklace to a long necklace that went all the way down till the hem of her blouse, which she paired with matching danglers.
If you are a bride-to-be who would like to embrace understated elegance, this is a great look to take inspiration from!
