If you are a bridesmaid-to-be planning to get a little makeover before the wedding festivities begin, you probably know that the coolest and most effective way to upgrade your look (yes, even better than getting a haircut), is changing your hair colour. Whether it’s a subtle hue closer to your natural hair, or something as bright as shocking purple, a change in hair colour will instantly transform your look.

Sure, hair colour is personal to everyone, and the colours that work for you will depend on the undertones of your skin, but it’s also important to know what the coolest trends are, so you can make an informed decision. Some of the biggest hair colour trends of the season include espresso-brown, bronde, caramel highlights, and deep burgundy. However, one hair colour trend that's hotter now than all the others combined, is cherry mocha. As the name suggests, this beautiful hue is a fusion between cherry red and chocolate brown. It's rich, bold, and super vibrant. And we don’t know about you, but Priyanka Chopra going cherry mocha earlier this year has us convinced to go cherry mocha too! This beautiful brown-red shade is perfect for you if you gravitate towards going red, but also want to tone things down a little.

    Flatters most skin tones
Hairstylist and make-up artist Amita Juneja echoes this sentiment. Emphasising on the appeal of the hair colour, she says, “Cherry mocha or cherry chocolate hair colour has seen a rise in demand recently, and rightly so. It is dramatic without being loud. It’s statement and sexy, will get you noticed for sure. It’s also super versatile and flatters most skin tones, and is particularly great for Indian skin tones.”

    Best with neutral outfits

If you are a bridesmaid considering going cherry red, it’s important to keep in mind that you’ll have to plan your outfits accordingly. “Avoid pairing cherry brown with neons or anything colour that might be too overpowering. But it will look great with neutrals like ivory, black, beige, and cream, and also with jewel tones like reds, deep purple, dark green,” Juneja adds.

And just because you’re wearing cherry mocha does not mean your makeup look has to be boring to balance it. Make-up artist and hairstylist Riya Saluja points this out. “Contrary to popular belief, your makeup does not have to be subtle when wearing cherry red hair. Shimmery rose-gold eyeshadow, copper eyeshadow, emerald green smokey eyes…go all out. Even deep burgundy lips look great with cherry red hair,” she informs.

Have we convinced you to go cherry mocha this season? You might find it to be just the change you needed.
