Whether it’s the bridal wardrobe or just any ensemble that’s fit for the wedding season, we’re no longer bound by traditional colours for our picks. From experimental dark shades to vibrant hues, there are no rules anymore!

At the recently held FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend, we saw an exploration of silhouettes and craft techniques by some of India’s top couturiers. Along with these, there was also the exciting display of colours that we can add to our mood boards for the upcoming season.

From JJ Valaya’s dark and moody colour palette for wedding wear to Rahul Mishra’s take on pastels for the bride and groom, it was a treat for people who love to stand out with their style.

Here are a few colours that we loved at FMWW 2024…

Wedding Wear Colour Palette From The FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend

    Ivory

The neutral hue allows versatility with the surface embellishments and accessories. The shade was prominent on the Hyundai India Couture runways and the FMWW 2024. Designers and labels like Tarun Tahiliani, Roseroom by Isha Jajodia, and Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s Asal and Mard skillfully showed why the classic colour is here to stay.

    Champagne

Champagne is a shade that compliments all skin tones and elevates the intricate work adorning the ensembles. For those who wish to experiment with neutral hues and go for something off-beat, champagne is the way to go. The colour dominated most of  Sulakshana Monga’s Regalia collection and pieces from Jayanthi Reddy’s and JJ Vallaya’s collection.

    Reds

If there’s one colour that comes to mind when we think of Indian weddings, it’s red. Although pastels and ivory might have gotten more popular over the past few years, the designers at FMWW 2024 showed that red cannot be replaced. Asal and Mard by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, and Amit Aggarwal explored different ways to incorporate the traditional colour into our wedding wear wardrobes this season.

    Blue and Blacks

Classic shades blue and black can be versatile and complement all skin tones beautifully. Since Gothic Glamour was clearly the unsaid memo of the season, we saw many designers explore the dramatic shades for wedding wear at the FMWW 2024. Wehther it was Kunal Rawal’s menswear or JJ Valaya’s dark lehengas for brides, it’s a win for people who love some gothic drama in their style choices.

    Pastels

Pastel is going nowhere, as evidenced by the collections on display at the FMWW 2024. Rahul Mishra, Gaurav Gupta, Roseroom by Isha Jajodia and Dolly J’s exhibits showed us how to adapt the classic colour palette for the wedding season this time around. Are you excited to play around with

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.

The fact that it comes with band, baaja and baraat — what's not to love? And that is the reason our first issue celebrates:
    THE NEW BRIDE.
