If you are a bridesmaid-to-be who is planning her looks right now and would like to know about the defining trends of the season in order to make informed decisions, we bring to you a compilation of the fashion trends—from the colours to silhouettes—that we think will be big in the upcoming wedding season.

Biggest Trends Of The Season To Embrace As A Bridesmaid/Wedding Guest

Bandeau Blouses

From a barely-there underwire bralette, to a tiny halter-neck blouse, micro-blouses are the flavour of the season. One silhouette within the micro-blouse universe that we’re particularly loving this season is the bandeau blouse. They’re easy, effortless and super sexy! Recently, Janhvi Kapoor was seen wearing a blue fringed saree (blue and fringes are also trends of the season; more on that later) with a bandeau blouse, which restarted the conversation around bandeau blouses. Our guess is that bandeau blouses will be big in the coming months. So this wedding season, pair your saris and lehengas with bandeau blouses, because who needs straps anyway?

Boho-chic Aesthetic

A bunch of bollywood girls have embraced the boho chic aesthetic in the recent past, and it doesn’t look like the trend is dying down anytime soon. If the coquette-core aesthetic feels too bland to you this season, and you want to go for something more in-line with the season’s maximalist aesthetics, you might want to embrace the boho-chic aesthetic. Think: colour galore, mirror-work, silver jewellery, tassels, vibrant prints.

Pastels

Cloud Dancer might be the Pantone Colour Of The Year, but everybody has collectively decided to embrace colour this year. From jewel tones to sorbet colour palette, this is the year to have fun with colours. Pastels are also having a moment right now, especially in Indian ceremonial fashion. Mint green, sage green, blush pink, butter yellow, muted olive, periwinkle blue, and lilac are the colours to wear this season.

Skinny Dupatta

Whether you want to call it a scarf, Scandinavian scarf, or skinny dupatta, we all know what it is and where it comes from. Easily one of the biggest trends of the year, the skinny dupatta is everywhere from the Met Gala to Cannes red carpet. Whether worn around the neck or draped around the arms, whether worn with a gown or a lehenga, this trend will be huge this wedding season.

Cobalt Blue

While the blue colour as a whole has successfully established its dominance this year, the colour within the blue umbrella that we think will be huge in the coming months is cobalt blue. From Hailey Bieber and Tessa Thompson’s look at the met gala this year, to Dua Lipa’s look at Elton John's Oscars viewing party, cobalt blue might be the colour of the year.

Fringes

This little micro-trend has been spotted a lot lately. Fringes hanging from the drape of your sari, at the hem of your skirt or dress, fringes hanging from the blouse of a lehenga going all the way to the floor...the possibilities are endless!
