Jayanti Reddy, well known for her elegant blend of old-world charm and contemporary design, now stands atop India's fashion landscape with her eponymous label. Over the years, she has championed Indian handicrafts through fresh, modern silhouettes over the years.
Based in Hyderabad, the designer has methodically carved a niche for herself with her creations that are marked by timeless embroideries, sustainable fabrics, and thoughtful craftsmanship. Her pieces have now become a bridal trousseau for all the women who seek tradition but with a twist of fresh perspective.
In this exclusive conversation with Manifest, Jayanti shares what inspires her to create such timeless pieces and what to expect from her at the FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend.
Manifest: What inspires you to create every day?
Jayanti Reddy: What inspires me to create every day is the richness of our culture and heritage. Indian textiles are so intricate and I feel like there's so much meaning to them. And I honestly feel like there's something very deeply fulfilling about creating, about taking something that's deeply rooted in tradition and being able to convert that into a garment.
M: What is your favourite part about Indian weddings?
JR: I think everything about Indian weddings is really beautiful, but for me, I feel like Indian weddings are not just a ceremony. It's more about the coming together of two families, traditions and heritage. And what's truly magical for me is the fact that clothing has become such an important part of it. Every colour, every embroidery and every detail has so much meaning to it.
M: Lastly, what can to-be-weds expect from you at the FDCI Manifest Wedding?
JR: This season, one can expect a lot of new embroidery techniques and also much more structured silhouettes.
