“The Collectibles” by Moi is what all our statement jewellery dreams are made of.

Hyderabad, a city known for its historical charm and rich culinary experiences, has a way of amalgamating the old with the new. It is keeping up with the times, while embracing everything traditionally old-school—pearls, Urdu couplets, the good old Biryani!
This beautiful city formed the backdrop for the unveiling of Moi’s new collection, “The Collectibles” through their showcase titled “A Time Traveller’s Keepsakes”. The showcase was held at Theory of Everything, a concept space owned by Aisshwarya DKS Hegde, which is a celebration of art, fashion and culture. Hosted by philanthropist Sudha Reddy, the evening celebrated Moi, the brain child of Kunal and Puja Shah. The collection featured colored gemstones, pearls, animal-motif jewellery, contemporary ombré haaslis.

The Collectibles series, a Moi offering, draws from the craft traditions of Gujarat, particularly Kutch and Kathiawad, taking inspiration from the glass beads used in the wedding trousseaus in the regions. The collection is born from the ideology that collectibility isn’t about possession, but about preservation and meaning. With the showcase featuring lots of color and cool, contemporary motifs like tortoises and birds (even the bird-motif brooch that Isha Amabani wore for her appearance at the Met Gala earlier this year), it seemed to be designed for a woman who embodies all that is bright and beautiful. Or as Kunal puts it, “It is designed for the global woman.”.

Gujarat serves as a major source of inspiration for Moi. Talking about a necklace set from Moi, Sudha Reddy explains that it is inspired by Bhuj in Gujarat, where women used to wear metal jewellery, which later evolved into jewellery with glass beads.

Much like Hyderabad itself, Moi, too, seems to have a penchant for blending the traditional with the contemporary, as Kunal describes Maharani Gayatri Devi—the poster girl for embracing the classics while looking extremely modern—as the perfect Moi muse. Moi tells the story of India’s lineage of design through a modern lens. Every piece is made by hand and brought to life with technology, combining the spirit of craft with the precision of the present.
