Coffee is literally everyone’s pick-me-up! Call it the gasoline of life, java du jour or whatever else you wish, there’s nothing that invigorates as much as a mug of steaming coffee! It sure is the go-to mantra for when you want to power through those packed wedding days, and over time, it’s also finding its way into beauty mantras. Folks are using antioxidant-packed coffee grounds in face and body scrubs to buff away dead skin, facial cleansers for a glow, under eye serums and even as hair rinses, making it apt for the pre-wedding bridal beauty indulgence.
On International Coffee Day today, discover five ways to bring the brew into your pre-wedding beauty routine for that coveted fresh, just-woke-up-like-this glow.
An effective exfoliating skincare treatment, this uses coffee grounds to physically remove dead skin cells and improve skin texture. To make a basic coffee body polish, mix 1/2 cup of used coffee grounds, 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil, and 1/4 cup of brown sugar in a bowl until it forms a thick paste. The abrasive quality of the grounds merges with the oil to smoothly and deeply cleanse the skin, leaving it perfect before a Haldi or Cocktail evening.
Here’s a cool hack to reduce puffiness and refresh tired eyes, something that can be so rampant in the run-up to the wedding. To do this, simply soak cotton pads in cold brewed coffee, allow it to rest on the closed eyelids for three minutes and remove. The coolness of the cotton compress works to immediately lessen puffiness.
Here's something that will soothe the skin while also giving it a glowing appearance. To make the mask, just combine finely ground coffee with half a teaspoon of honey. While the coffee gently exfoliates, honey acts as a humectant. But remember to try it on your elbow before you start.
This feels good after a long day of being on your feet! To make the foot soak, just add 1 cup of brewed coffee to 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt (try plain or lavender) into a small tub of warm water. Soak your feet in this for 20 minutes. It helps smoothen the skin, softens hard areas and eliminates odors in addition to relieving fatigue.
Want that mane of shiny hair? The hack to it lies in coffee. Just brew a pot of black coffee, allow it to cool and keep it aside. Once you are done shampooing and conditioning your hair, just pour the brewed coffee all over your hair as the final rinse. Allow it to stay on the hair for a few minutes and then rinse it off with cool water. (Do a trial first, as it may lighten or darken the hair).
