A nice blush instantly adds a beautiful, naturally flushed glow to your face. However, when it comes to blush, what’s more important than the product itself is the placement. If you have been wearing your blush on the apples of your cheeks all this while, your blush placement game might need an upgrade. Enter: blush draping. From Priyanka Chopra to Hailey Bieber, everyone is hopping onto the blush draping bandwagon.

Blush draping is a technique where you use a blush to contour your face instead of using a bronzer or contour stick. Blush draping is when you add the blush to the apples of your cheeks and extend it to the temples in a ‘C’ shape. The technique can be attributed to the 70s and 80s, when Cher used to wear her deep, saturated blush in this style. However, in 2026, when blush (and makeup in general) is in its minimalistic era, saturated blush is replaced by fresh and light blush, while the placement remains the same. Blush draping sculpts and defines the facial fractures giving a more lifted appearance.

But is it for you? The answer is probably yes. Makeup artist Riya Saluja explains, “Blush draping is a universally flattering technique that can be adapted to virtually every face shape and skin tone. When paired with shades that complement the skin’s complexion and undertones, it enhances the features with warmth, softness, and a naturally lifted effect.”

Blush draping works well with all kinds of shades—pinks, peaches, berry shades. It’s also compatible with all kinds of formulas and textures—cream, powder, or tint.

If you are new to blush draping and want to try it this wedding season, we suggest starting with a colour that you are comfortable with, and using a tiny amount of product. “Choose a blush shade that complements your skin tone and undertones, then sweep it along the cheekbones towards the temples in a curved path. Blend seamlessly to create a soft, diffused finish, building the colour gradually for added dimension. Complete the look with a touch of highlighter for a radiant, lifted glow.” Riya adds.
