If you’re looking to add some dimension to your lips, combining contrasting lip liners and lip glosses is the way to go.

When it comes to special occasions, lip gloss is one of the most easy and glamorous options to pick out. It’s shiny, glittery, and the perfect solution for the holiday and wedding season. In fact, from Janhvi Kapoor and Isha Ambani to Sharvari Wagh and Ananya Panday, so many celebrities were seen donning a glossy lip to Manish Malhotra’s Diwali bash this year. But all lip gloss looks deserve to be accompanied by lip liners, especially if you use contrasting colours together. “Defining your lips with lip liner not only accentuates shape and size, but it's also long-wearing," shared L.A.-based makeup artistTami El-SombatiwithCovetuer, as she added "Blending it out with a gloss adds dimension and the illusion of fuller lips." It’s a great way to create a bold lip look without being obvious, or visually stark.

This is a combination with will flatter most Indian women, as brown is a shade that always works for us. Don’t forget to blend the brown lip liner well before you apply the clear lip gloss so that a harsh line does not show up.

This combination will make your red lips last much longer. And here, you don’t have to concern yourself with blending the lip liner because it’s more about building up pigment by using two products than creating visual contrast. All you have to start applying the lip liner from the outer corners of your lips and work it inwards, blend it a little and then apply the red lip gloss.

A similar process applies to this combination as both products are of the same colour. You do not have to worry about being neat or precise. Only, be concerned with filling your lips in with the lip liner before you apply the lipgloss to get a long-lasting look.

Another combination that’ll make your lips pop, is applying brown lip liner, and blending it in with pink lipgloss to give it that naturally pigmented look. You can also try this with a red lipstick, that will give you a more glamorous look!
