What Is The Green Necklace Worn By Prajakta Koli At Her Wedding Reception?
The bride paired her handloom silk sari with a long, green, beaded necklace. Here’s what it means…
Prajakta Koli, AKA MostlySane, has tied the knot with her long-term boyfriend Vrishank Khanal. The couple got married in an intimate ceremony in Kajrat, Maharashtra, surrounded by friends and family.
The multi-day ceremony saw the bride and groom don beautiful ensembles, including their custom Anita Dongre outfits for the wedding day. While the couple leaned towards minimalistic style for their pre-wedding and wedding looks, the reception outfit saw the two pay homage to Vrishank’s Nepali roots with their looks.
The groom looked dapper in a brown blazer which he wore with an ivory kurta set. He added the traditional Dhaka topi, which is worn by grooms in Nepal.
The bride went with a crimson and gold silk handloom sari with traditional Nepali surface work. She paired it with matching gold jewellery and a Tilhari necklace. It can also be spotted in her wedding photos.
Like a mangalsutra, a tilhari symbolises the marital status of a woman in Nepal. It is made of beads, known as pote, and a cylindrical gold pendant, known as tilhari. The two parts of the necklace are brought separately and assembled together later. It’s considered sacred and auspicious for brides to wear the tilhari to symbolise their marital status and bring good fortune to the couple’s married life.
Through their wedding wardrobe, Prajkata and Vrishank have made a strong case for brides and grooms to stay true to their story and celebration of love.
