We got photographers to reveal the must-have pictures for any couple.

There are many ways you can immortalise the moments at your wedding. You can go for expertly curated social media content or even get artists onboard to paint your wedding in real time. But the classic method remains the good old art of wedding photography.
Over the years, wedding photography has evolved continuously and so has the good old wedding album. Today, it’s more about story telling than just mere pictures.
“Yes, wedding photography and albums have evolved significantly over the years. Today, couples seek the personalised and unique storytelling approach for their wedding pictures”, says wedding photographer Ronicka Kandhari
“In today's time, couples wish to envision a documentary-style approach for their wedding photographs, the end result of which feels like a feature film. Earlier wedding albums only used to have traditional on-camera flash photos; today, it's more about candid moments and journalistic storytelling. The focus is more on high-fashion poses worthy of being published in a top-tier fashion magazine.”
But curating a wedding album is sometimes not as easy as it seems, so to help you out, we’ve consulted photographers around the country to let us know about a few photographs that deserve a place in your wedding album.

Your wedding day is one of the days when you are dressed to perfection. If you wish to capture your partner’s reaction as you walk down the aisle or meet one another before the ceremonies kickstart, make sure you document this, as these moments showcase a mix of emotions.
“The first-look moments are as precious as gold,” says celebrity wedding photographer Anand Rathi, founder of Reels and Frames. “It is this moment that the newlyweds have been eagerly waiting for. The expression offers a mixed bag of emotions from happiness, nostalgia, excitement which is worthy of a great click.”

Solo portraits are the times when the spotlight shines on you. After all, the bride and the groom deserve some limelight of their own. “After the wedding rituals, the photographs will be more of ‘we’ than ‘me’," says wedding photographer Aditya Mahagaonkar, founder of What Knot wedding photography. “So, having a solo portrait of your own on your big day can also count for some self-love in the long run.”

Pre-wedding photoshoots can be a great ice breaking session between the photographer and the couple and also help understand and set expectations with regards to the photography scheduled to happen on the main day.
“Even if you are not opting for a destination wedding, please do opt for a pre-wedding photoshoot”, asserts celebrity wedding photographer Badal Jain. “I believe a few pre-wedding shots are compulsory to help and plan for the main day. As it gives an insight as to how to plan the photography schedule as per the wedding venue, rituals and timing of festivities.”

Weddings involve a lot of rituals and it is these rituals that highlight the importance of a marital bond. So, make sure you have a few clicks from the traditional ceremonies in your wedding album to look back on.
“While newlyweds and family members take the lion’s share of attention in a wedding album, the rituals largely go unnoticed”, says Badal. “If someone is looking at their album years down the line, they can also be a great education tool for the younger members of the family to enlighten them about the value system and essence of their culture.”

When it’s a destination wedding, do make sure that you include a few pictures of the scenery, as this can serve as a great reminder of the fondest memories the two shared just minutes before you tied the knot.
“Every destination has something unique to offer,” says Ronicka Kandhari. “Whether you’re drawn to the calm of the hills, the thrill of the deserts, or the luxury of royal palaces, there’s a perfect backdrop in every love story, so make sure to capture them, because they do have a role to play in your union.”

Weddings are a special moment, and on your special day, having photographs where you share combined moments with the ones that matter always ages well with time.
“Families have people of all ages since weddings also serve as a mini-reunion; make best use of this opportunity and click enough pictures," says Badal Jain, one-half of Badal Raja Company. “The ones that matter to you have made the effort to manage time and be there for you on your big day, so please make sure to acknowledge their efforts by giving them a place in your wedding album.”

The bridal and groom entries are moments when all eyes are on you, so make sure to relish every bit of the spotlight and also let the photographer make the best use of his lens because these are the moments that scream ‘iconic’.

Blurry and candid photography is a way to capture movement, emotion, and ambiance most subtly. These photographs breathe life into memories that feel emotional and relatable.
“Implementing the proper level of blur into your photographs can turn your wedding album into a cinematic experience,” says Aditya Mahagaonkar. “The art of candid and blurry photography lies in balancing between the elements of emotions, aesthetics and realism.”

As the old saying goes, “all’s well that end’s well”, capturing your after wedding clicks can be a reminder of what a night it was.
“Each wedding is different, but what truly makes an album unforgettable is the emotions, the way it went and how well it ended, so make sure to capture a few clicks from the after-party also,” says Anand Rathi.
