The classic ‘opposite attracts’ drama is one of the best PTV shows of the year…

Pakistani TV show Meem Se Mohabbat, starring Ahad Raza Mir and Dananeer Mobeen, recently caused a minor panic-fuelled Internet takeover by fans. The regularly scheduled episode of the show didn’t air on 2 April as it was supposed to.
After frantic pleas on X, formerly Twitter, and a marked spike in Google searches for the show’s Episode 31, the parent channel, Hum TV, clarified that the show’s programming was readjusted because of Eid. The makers also announced that instead of Wednesday, the episode will drop on Thursday (3 April).
For those not in the know, Meem Se Mohabbat follows the slow (slow, slow) burn love story of Talha and Roshi who couldn’t be more opposite to each other. Talha is a single father of a traumatised child, and Roshi is a lively girl who just wants to have fun with her life. Their journey towards finding happiness with each other has had fans hooked over the 30 episodes, and the anticipation for the next episode is high.
One of the standouts from the show is lead actor Ahad Raza Mir’s performance. The Pakistani-Canadian actor’s turn as the serious and intense Talha serves as a reminder of how he is one of the most interesting romantic actors in the Pakistani TV industry.
The actor made his debut in 2010 but got his breakthrough moment with 2017’s drama Yaqeen Ka Safar.
Despite facing allegations of nepotism (his dad is the veteran actor Asif Raza Mir), Ahad has established himself as one of the most bankable stars in the country. He became the first South Asian actor to win a ‘Best Actor in a Musical’ award at the Canadian Critics’ Awards. He made his Netflix debut in 2022 with a role in the series Resident Evil.
If you’re hooked to the show and Ahad’s performance, here are some other romantic Pakistani TV shows you can watch now…
Yakeen Ka Safar (2017)
Dhoop Ki Deewar (2021)
Ye Dil Mera (2019)
Aangan (2018)
Hum Tum (2022)
The show that put Ahad on the map, Yakeen Ka Safar was one of the highest-rated shows in the country when it was released. It follows Afsandyar and Zubiya as they navigate the various challenges life throws at them and eventually find their lives intertwining. Ahad’s nuanced portrayal of the grief-stricken doctor won him critical appreciation across the board.

Ahad made his OTT debut in 2021 with Zee5’s Dhoop Ki Deewar opposite Sajal Aly. The show depicts the Indo-Pak border conflict and its impact on citizens on both sides of the border. The story follows army kids Sara and Vishal, who cross paths with each other on social media after losing their fathers in the war. They begin to bond as they try to cope with their loss and understand what nationalism and patriotism mean.

Ahad paired with his frequent collaborator (and future ex-wife) Sajal Aly in this romantic thriller. The story follows Aina and Amaan, two people who are unknowingly affected by the same tragedy from their past. Even as they get together, their past connection continues to haunt their present and act as a roadblock in their journey towards happiness.

Based on Khadija Mastoor’s highly acclaimed 1962 novel of the same name, Aangan is set in British India and was one of the most eagerly anticipated productions of the time. The show followed the stories of people affected by the partition of 1947 through its central characters, including Aaliya (Mawra Hocane), Jameel (Ahad Raza Mir), and Chammi (Sajal Aly).

Ahad Raza Mir made his way to the small screen after a hiatus of three years for this Ramazan special series. The lighthearted rom-com revolved around two houses in the same neighbourhood and the variety of characters that inhabited them. The Gen Z take on a hate-to-love story was considered a hit because of its performances and the refreshing take on gender roles.
