In Surat, a city shaped by its looms and woven histories, Ganga Fashions has opened its first concept store.

Light falls in fragments through tall trees, pooling across courtyards and the tiled floors of a 100-year-old Indo-Portuguese bungalow on Surat’s Dumas Road. This is Nomads, a heritage house where time seems to pause, and within it, Ganga Fashions’ first concept store has opened a space where textiles, craft, and design are rooted in heritage.

The store itself occupies 2,000 sq. ft., but it does not feel like a typical retail space. Rooms are organised by mood, inviting visitors to explore fabrics as objects of attention and care. Linen walls, plastered surfaces, and timber accents offer a neutral canvas, allowing the textures, colours, and silhouettes of each garment to take centre stage. Silk catches light as it drapes, cotton folds with ease, and every stitch reads as deliberate. Even the smallest details, such as a handwoven scarf, a vintage accessory, or a repurposed textile, all signal the brand’s attention to craft and thoughtfulness.
Ganga Fashions’ story is intertwined with Surat’s own textile heritage. Founded in the 1990s as an export house, the brand supplied markets from London to Dubai, bringing technical precision to traditional prints. Since entering the Indian market in 2007, it has translated this expertise into a contemporary wardrobe.
Creative direction by Karishma Dalal draws on the brand’s textile roots but edits them for a contemporary eye. She focuses on the way garments fall, how fabrics respond to light, and how each corner of the store encourages observation. Beyond its signature womenswear, the edit now extends into menswear, home linens, accessories, and skincare, with a kidswear line soon to follow.

“The launch of our first concept store marks an important milestone in Ganga’s journey,” says founder Sanjay Gangwani. “This space is more than a store, it is a reflection of the care we put into every product and every experience.” The words echo what the space already conveys: attention to detail, slow design, and a sense of thoughtfulness at every touchpoint.
Part of the pleasure of visiting Ganga Fahsions’ concept store lies in its surroundings. Nomads itself has become a quiet cultural waypoint, where art, coffee, and conversation meet beneath leafy verandas. Here, the city’s energy is measured, the pace human, and the act of browsing becomes a small ritual rather than a transaction. It’s the kind of space that complements the brand’s thoughtful approach to design and retail.
