Bahut Hi Choti Shaadi Hai: Aamir Khan On His Intimate Wedding With Gauri Spratt On July 5

In a weekend that is completely wedding-driven (all eyes are on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s big wedding), Bollywood also will get set for a celebration. Aamir Khan is all set to tie the knot with his long-time partner Gauri Spratt on July 5. And in new reports, he maintains it won’t be a big fat wedding.

It was after months of speculations, that the Dangal actor confirmed his wedding news on July 2, Thursday, where he is said to have shared in a press conference that he and Gauri will be tying the knot. To quote the star: “Shaadi hai 5 July ko. Ghar pe hi kar rahe hai. Bahut hi choti shadi hai. Bahut hi khaas din hai 5 tarikh hamare liye. Dono families hai aur kuch khaas dost hai (The wedding is on July 5th. We are hosting it at home; it’s a very small, intimate affair. The 5th is a very special day for us. Both families and a few close friends will be there).” 

Home is Where The Heart Is

Unlike usual celebrity functions, this wedding is clearly not going to be a lavish affair and  instead, the actor is planning to make his wedding an intimate affair with simplicity at its core. He further added, “Ghar pe hi kar rahe hai. Aap sabhi ki dua chahiye bas ki hum khush rahe aur achha safar rahe. Bahut hi chota sa affair hai. Bahut hi gharelu hai (We are holding it right at home. We just need everyone's blessings for our happiness and a wonderful journey ahead. It is a very small, intimate affair, a truly homely one).”

Aamir and Gauri will be registering their wedding under the Special Marriage Act at the actor’s Bandra home in Mumbai and the couple will mark the occasion with a small wedding ceremony that will take place in the first half of the day. Reports suggest that the ceremony will be attended by about 150 people which includes the couple’s close friends and family members. Beside that, Aamir’s ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, as well as their children, Junaid Khan, Ira Khan, and Azad Khan are anticipated to mark their presence at the actor’s third wedding.

When They Met

For the unversed, the couple first met each other in Bengaluru through Aamir’s cousin Nuzhat Khan and the two dated for a year before Aamir introduced her to the media as his partner. He had made the public announcement on his 60th birthday in March last year and the two have been living together at his Bandra home ever since. Aamir had previously addressed the questions of his marriage with Gauri. He had said, “Iss umar mein shaadi karna mujhe shobha nahi deta (It doesn’t feel right to get married at my age).” He had then gone on to admit that he feels very settled with her for now.

During a recent interview with Navbharat Times, the Lagaan actor had also said that he has been in a happy space since Gauri came into his life. He said that he was very lucky to have met Gauri and start their relationship. “She is great; I feel at peace with her. Although my relationships with (ex-wives) Kiran (Rao) and Reena (Dutta) were also very deep, things didn't work out. When you asked, I felt that I am very blessed that Gauri entered my life. We are very happy together. Mujhe lagta hai ab main jaake mukammal hua hoon (I feel complete today)," he shared.
