When Sakshi Sindwani tied the knot with her partner Raghav Arora, back in 2024, her wedding went viral. It became the template for brides who wanted to have a wedding where they could have fun and be themselves. It also helped that the content creator collaborated with some of the best couturiers in India for her wedding wardrobe. From Manish Malhotra to Tarun Tahiliani, the bride had it all.

“My journey in the world of content creation has been about fighting for my space in fashion. When I started, my work lay in making designers allies in what I stood for: inclusivity and representation. To witness the biggest designers of the country envisioning custom looks—a rare occurrence for a social media personality—has been truly an honour,” she shared in an interview with Vogue India

So it didn’t come as a surprise when we managed to catch up with her at the recently concluded FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week. Sakshi, who was attending the Saaksha & Kinni showcase, talked to us about her favourite moments from her nuptials, her wedding-guest style,  life after the wedding, and more. Take a look...

In Conversation With Sakshi Sindwani

Manifest: Tell us about how you’re feeling these days.

Sakshi Sindwani: I am feeling fresh, motivated, and inspired.

M: What are the biggest trends you spotted at LFW?

SS: I noticed there was a lot of play when it came to textures, prints, and colours... It was something like I've never seen before. Especially for designer-duo Saksha and Kinni, their collection was so different in terms of the texture and how different prints and silhouettes were paired together.

M: Are you keen to recreate any looks from the show?

SS: Absolutely! There's one swimsuit that stood out to me. One of the models wore a monokini that doubled as a corset, layered over a black bikini, and paired with what looked like a trench coat. But it wasn’t just a trench—it felt like a beach cover-up with a trench-style cutout. That was such an interesting combination, and I’m looking forward to trying it myself.

M: Tell us about your association with Lakmé Fashion Week.

SS: My association with Lakmé Fashion Week has been long-standing. I’ve been a part of it for years now. I was first scouted as a model in 2019, and my debut show was as a showstopper for designer Rina Dhaka. This was in September 2019, and funnily enough, I wasn’t even auditioning. I was there as a digital content creator, covering the auditions for media. My job was to do stories and social media coverage. But Rina spotted me and asked me to walk the ramp. I told her, "I’m not here to audition," and she simply said, "Just go!" So, I did, and they shortlisted me. Not only did I open the show, but I also closed it. At the time, I didn’t even fully understand what ‘opening’ or ‘closing’ a show meant! That was my first experience, and from there, my journey began. But my love for Lakmé Fashion Week goes way back in time—when I was a kid in school, obsessed with fashion. I remember watching all these incredible models walk the ramp and being completely enamoured. When I was in college, I would try every possible way to get passes for fashion week, just to be part of that world. It was insane! Fast forward to now, and I can’t believe I was at the 25th-anniversary gala the other evening. It feels surreal...almost like a full-circle moment. It makes me feel that everything I’ve done to push conversations around inclusivity and change in fashion was leading in the right direction—that maybe I was doing something right after all.

M: Tell us one beauty essential you can’t do without.

SS: I’d say sunscreen. Even before stick sunscreens became trendy, I was using them diligently. Lakmé’s sun stick has replaced all my other variants because it’s genuinely that good. It’s perfect for reapplication over make-up too. This is because I don’t like sunscreens that leave a white cast behind. Many sunscreens, including sun sticks, tend to leave a white cast, but this one doesn’t. It’s so easy to apply. The show I recently walked for introduced a pocket-sized sunscreen—literally a fashion accessory that fits right in your bag. I thought that was such a brilliant idea! Every time you reach for your bag, you’ll be reminded to reapply sunscreen, which is exactly what you need every three hours. It’s a total game-changer!

M: What is your go-to attire for attending a wedding?

SS: I love a good saree because it is eternal. I particularly prefer a pre-draped saree... You just slip into it and you're good to go. Also, it allows you so many ways to drape a pallu. Even the same saree that you might have worn can be worn in at least three different weddings and nobody would even notice.

M: What is your favourite part about attending weddings?

SS: I think it's just to see the love. I'm always fixated on the couple. I love seeing them, observing them.... People would assume that I would love the food. Food is never my first. I'm just obsessed with the emotions that are flowing at the wedding. Seeing the family, seeing the friends becoming passionate about jhoota chupai or other traditions of the wedding.

M: Has getting married changed you in any way?

SS: It has changed me so much. It's given me a lot of thehraav. As one would translate it in English, marrying Raghav has given me a lot of stability in life. It's made me a lot happier and just more focused in life. Because now I know that I have him to back me up no matter what...

M: That’s so sweet... Do you both share skincare too?

SS: He shares everything with me [laughs]!  He will follow my nighttime routine. He will use my serum, moisturiser, and overnight sleeping mask! He loves using my lip balms, and I think I have gotten him addicted. However, I love that when it comes to beauty, he follows what I say. He always now uses a moisturising sunscreen before leaving for work.

M: What do you love about your partner the most?

SS: I think what I love about my partner is how patient he is when he needs to be and how much of a cheerleader he is when it comes to everything I do. He is a true ally, and that's something that I really love about him.

M: Tell us about a memorable moment from your wedding.

SS: There are so many... but my favourite is when I looked at Raghav and I was walking towards the mandap, and he was crying during my entry and the pheras. I have goosebumps every time I think about it. It is all about the pure emotions we exchanged as souls. It felt so strong, and I don't think I am ever going to get that feeling ever again because I have married the love of my life. I have been with him since high school. So, after 13 years of being together and knowing every part of each other, when you get married... that feeling is just inexplicable. I think that's something that transcends anything that you might expect.

M: How do you see your life with your partner in the coming years?

I think I am getting better at handling situations. We have become better at handling curveballs that life throws at us. We will always be a team, whether it is with kids or with our businesses growing. I envision becoming rich in life and monetarily, too. I want to be strong with him—be a bad*ss couple—that's what I envision for us.
