To add to the long chain of good news that has come in early 2026, Shikhar Dhawan recently announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Sophie Shine. The couple shared the news with their fans and friends in a joint post on Instagram on Monday, and their fans have not been able to contain their excitement ever since.
The caption on the post read, “From shared smiles to shared dreams. Grateful for the love, the blessings and every good wish for our engagement as we choose togetherness forever.” Signed with the couple’s names, the post featured Sophie’s hand on Shikhar’s as a diamond ring sat on her ring finger. The post was quick to take the internet by storm, garnering widespread attention from the Indian cricketer's fans and the couple's friends as everybody dropped their congratulatory messages on the post.
According to reports, Shikhar and Sophie had first met in Dubai a few years ago, and what had initially begun as a sweet friendship soon turned into something rather deep. Thereafter, the couple was often caught hanging out together. They were seen at cricket matches, social events, and even travelling together, which led to speculations about their relationship.
They had also caught attention during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where they were spotted watching a match together. The couple was also present at a media conclave where the former Indian opener had hinted at finding love again. However, it was later, on May 1, that the duo officially confirmed their relationship as Sophie uploaded a picture with Shikhar, captioning it, “My love,” along with a heart emoji.
