Ever since Dua Lipa and Callum Turner announced their engagement, fans have been swamped. From gushing over Dua’s beautiful thick-band engagement ring, to anticipating the designer for her wedding dress, we’ve had our hands full for a while. What followed was a series of impeccable looks on both Dua and Callum. Her wedding extravaganza has finally culminated in a beautiful wedding ceremony in Sicily, and it’s safe to say that between all her looks, there wasn’t a single miss.
Her looks leading up to the main ceremony
It began in Ibiza, when Dua wore a custom Versace dress made by Donatella Versace, for what was believed to be her bachelorette weekend. The sparkly Versace mini dress was a recreation of the runway dress that Kate Moss wore for the Versace show in 1995. How cool is that!? Next, for her civil wedding ceremony in London, she kept things chic and understated in a beautiful skirt suit by Schiaparelli, paired with Bvlgari jewels. While ditching a traditional wedding dress for a skirt suit was an interesting choice in itself, what made this look even more special was its homage to Bianca Jagger’s iconic Yves Saint Laurent wedding look from 1971. This was followed by their Italian wedding weekend in Sicily, where she took a sharp turn from the sophistication of the skirt suit, and channeled the party bride aesthetic in a feathered dress. Her Bottega Veneta dress was fringed, backless, and crafted in leather, which she paired with a matching Bottega Veneta Andiamo clutch, and jewels and watches (yes, plural) from Bvlgari. During this weekend, she was also seen wearing a floral lace dress from Chloé, paired with a swan-shaped clutch from the same brand. All these looks? Chef’s kiss!
Custom Chanel for the wedding
And finally, for the main wedding ceremony, she picked a custom Chanel dress. While Callum chose to wear a black custom Louis Vuitton suit designed by Pharrell Williams, Dua further leaned into her party bride aesthetic in Chanel. What makes this dress special is that it is the first Chanel haute couture wedding dress designed by Matthieu Blazy. The dress is a lesson in restrained maximalism. The silhouette fitted her like a glove till the waist, and flared out ever-so-lightly from below the hip. It had a backless cut, a halter-neck, and a two-metre train. The dress was entirely hand-embroidered in beads and jewels.
The skirt of the dress, which was dripping with feathers, was really leaning into the party bride vibe. Another element of the dress that really stood out was the back. The dress was adorned with strings of jewels sitting on her bare back, which we are obsessed with! As if this wasn’t interesting enough, Dua paired her dress with a feathered headpiece, to match the feathered skirt of her dress, and a long embroidered veil.
She completed the look with a pair of white satin pumps from Chanel, and a pair of dainty studs. She kept her makeup fresh and dewy, and wore a light shimmery eyeshadow. For the hair, she went for a sleek, polished look and wore her hair down. Party brides—are you taking notes?
