Rimzim Dadu closed Day 3 of the FDCI Hyundai India Couture Week with her collection titled Inlae. Named after the centuries-old art of inlay, it drew inspiration from the intricacy of Mughal inlay work. The collection was an extension of Rimzim Dadu’s signature textile innovation, except this time it also borrowed a leaf from iridescence of mother-of-pearl and the craftsmanship of historic Indian jewellery.
The collection opened with a metallic statement bralette with cut-out work, paired with black relaxed pants. We also saw a bodycon midi dress, and sleek column gowns. The collection also had some concept saris. One sari in particular, featured the house’s signature textile innovation for the pallu and the bodice, with a draped skirt with a thigh-high slit. We also saw saris with bandeau blouses and pallu with cut-work detail, and fringes at the hem. Another sari had a pallu made entirely with thin strips of fabric stitched together.
The colour palette majorly included gold, silver, and ivory, grey, and black, with a touch of wine. Two major blouse trends we saw at the showcase include halter-neck blouses and bandeau blouses. Additionally, we also saw corsets with skirts. While the collection had A-line lehengas, fishtail lehengas, and straight lehengas, we’re anticipating that fishtail lehengas will be big this wedding season. We also noticed that a couple of lehengas were paired with a thin strap of fabric for the dupatta, further adding to the wave of skinny dupattas. One look had a mini dress, paired with embellished tights, which has to be our favourite look from the collection.
Menswear looks featured boxy jackets and relaxed pants. We also saw tuxedos, with just the lapel and cummerbund featuring the house's signature textile innovation. Other men’s trends include cropped bandhgalas, draped pants, and pouch bags. For those dandy men who wish to adopt one trend from the show, it would be statement cummerbunds!
