Akansha Ranjan’s Wedding Look Reminds Us Why Red Is A Timeless Choice For Brides

Anshula Kapoor to Aamir Khan, it sure seems to be raining celebrity weddings right now. The latest addition to this is actress Akansha Ranjan Kapoor and film director Sharan Sharma. The two tied the knot on Saturday, in a beautiful wedding ceremony, with close friends and family in attendance. Everything about the ceremony, from the intimate setting, to the exchanging handwritten vows, seemed very low-key yet exquisite. This aesthetic also extended itself to the bride and groom’s looks. While Sharan chose to wear an understated ivory monotone kurta set with an embroidered jacket, Akansha wore a beautiful red sari by Arpita Mehta.

We particularly love how Akansha’s look is a perfect balance of opulence and effortlessness. Her red Arpita Mehta sari had a subtle floral print all over it, and an intricately embroidered, gold zari border. It was paired with a half-sleeve gold blouse embroidered in zari, which also had Arpita Mehta’s signature mirror-work in the form of small mirrors hanging from the sleeves. Apart from the pallu, Akansha added an extra dupatta draped around the other wrist. The sari had the most stunning shade of red, reiterating that colour trends will come and go, but the red Indian bride is going nowhere.

The bride paired this with rich, traditional jewellery. Her big polki necklace added a pop of red and green to the look, paired with a matching maangtikka and studs with kanautis that went all the way to the back of her hair. She paired her red chooda with chunky gold bangles, gold kaliras, and a pair of haathphool. 

She also kept her make-up minimal, with nude dewy skin, barely-there blush, nude lips, a half eyeliner, and mascara. Adding a touch of traditional elegance, she completed the look with a tiny red bindi. For the hair, she opted for loose, middle-parted waves adorned with flowers at the back.
