From Lady Di to Grace Kelly, here are our favourite royal wedding looks over the years!

One thing about weddings? Everybody is waiting is waiting to see what the bride will be wearing. Multiply that curiosity by infinite when it's a royal wedding. And while all royal wedding looks are under intense scrutiny, seldom comes a bride who wears a wedding dress so magnificent, that it inspires fashion trends for years to come. From Princess Diana to Grace Kelly, here are our top picks for the most stylish royal brides.

It is common knowledge that Lady Di can do no wrong when it comes to fashion (and in general), but her wedding dress in particular was the epitome of pretty. Designed by British fashion designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel, her ivory dress was beautiful, romantic, and had an old-world charm to it. The dress featured dramatic ruffles on the neckline, voluminous sleeves, lace and bows. Fun fact: Her dress came with a 25-foot long train, which was difficult to fit inside her carriage, which is why her dress was badly wrinkled when she arrived at the venue. But hey, sometimes it’s the flaws that make a piece of art what it is!

One can not talk about iconic royal wedding dresses and leave Grace Kelly out of the conversation. Grace Kelly’s wedding dress signifies everything that she stood for: elegance, gravitas, and timelessness. For her wedding with Prince Rainier III of Monaco, she opted for a stunning lace gown designed by American costume designer Helen Rose. The dress featured a lace bodice adorned with pearls, which had a high neckline, and full sleeves, along with a voluminous skirt and a cummerbund. We also loved the intricate lace detail on her veil.

Decades later, Kate Middleton took inspiration from Grace Kelly’s wedding dress for her wedding with Prince William. The result was a beautiful Alexander McQueen dress that went on to become one of the most memorable royal wedding dresses of all time. Designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, her dress featured a bodice with lace appliqués, long sleeves, and an A-line skirt.

For her first wedding to Philippe Junot, Princess Caroline of Monaco, aka the eldest daughter of Grace Kelly, opted for a beautiful ivory Dior gown designed by Marc Bohan. Her delicately embroidered gown was sheer and flowy, and nothing like her mother’s well-fitted wedding dress. While the dress was pretty, what we really love about the look is how she wore her hair in two subtle buns, and wrapped flowers around them! Consider us absolutely obsessed!

Dressing impeccably clearly runs in the family, and Princess Grace’s granddaughter echoed this sentiment after her mother. Charlotte Casiraghi had three ceremonies for her wedding with Dimitri Rassam; and while we love all her looks, our absolute favorite is this Giambattista Valli dress that is the epitome of romance. The sheer detail on the neckline? The off-shoulder ruffles? The tiered skirt? The sleeves that flare out ever so lightly? LOVE!

Although not as iconic or memorable as the other dresses on the list, Princess Mabel’s wedding dress deserves a mention for how incredibly daring it was. Her ivory Victor & Rolf dress featured 248 handmade bows that went from tiny to huge as they transitioned from the top to the bottom of the dress. Her dress was unconventional and daring, especially considering that royal wedding dresses have a history of being demure and proper.
