If there is one bag that deserves a place in your wedding trousseau, it’s the Knot Clutch by Bottega Veneta. Its subtle yet striking design is a nod to the brand’s core values of prioritising craftsmanship and quality over overt logos. The Knot’s origins can be traced back to the Bottega Veneta archives. When Creative Director Tomas Maier joined the brand in 2001, he delved into the house’s history and unearthed a simple, rounded box clutch from the late 1970s.

Inspired by its clean lines and timeless silhouette, Maier decided to give it a modern update. He replaced the original clasp with a distinctive, looped knot, a design element that has since become synonymous with the bag itself. This seemingly small detail was a powerful statement, an emblem of the brand’s meticulous, hand-crafted heritage.

What makes the Knot so unique is its duality. It’s a work of art and a functional accessory. The bag’s structure is often a canvas for the house’s signature intrecciato weave, a technique born out of necessity in the brand’s early days when artisans needed to work with thinner, more delicate leather. This intricate woven pattern is a logo in itself, a subtle yet unmistakable sign of Bottega Veneta. Over the years, the Knot has been reimagined in countless materials, from classic satin to delicate embroideries, and even sterling silver, making this style a cherished piece worthy of its icon status.

The Knot Clutch has now turned into a bridal accessory; it is an emblem of silent luxury and lasting grace. Its design is still able to reflect the characteristics of timelessness to produce more and more brides who appreciate both the past and the present. Though it is used with a silk sari or a modern-day couture gown, the Knot easily connects the two opposite ends and thus is rightly called the perfect embellishment of a wedding trousseau, which is destined to last forever.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
