Get The Look: Radhika Merchant’s Artfully Dishevelled Hairdo
A messy bun is as versatile as it gets!
Radhika Merchant turned heads with her look at the recently held Vivienne Westwood showcase at the Gateway of India, Mumbai.
Styled by Rhea Kapoor, the new member of the Ambani clan wore an archival Vivienne Westwood corset and scarf from the label’s autumn/winter 2990 ‘Portrait’ collection. She paired it with a custom chanderi sari and statement jewellery.
While we loved the new addition to our moodboard of sari + corsets, we couldn’t help but bookmark this look for the beautiful messy bun created by hairstylist Hiral Bhatia.

Step-By-Step Guide: Radhika Merchant’s Messy Bun Look
A well-executed messy bun can be a great choice for brides or wedding guests as it exudes an effortlessly elegant vibe. Meghan Markle chose to walk down the aisle at her wedding with her hair gathered in a beautiful, messy bun. It’s versatile and easy to put together. The key lies in creating the right texture. Here’s how to do it yourself:
Hair prep is most important if you want your messy bun to last for a long time. Use a texture spray to create the right base for your look.
Create soft, textured waves in your hair using a wide-barreled curling iron. Apply a soft/medium hold hairspray on the curls to hold and create more texture.

Gently comb out the curls and spray a sea salt spray. This is optional and depends on how much texture you want your hair to hold.
Gather your hair into a low ponytail and secure with a hair tie. You can leave a few face-framing curls out of the ponytail.
Twist the ponytail into a bun and secure it with bobby pins at the base of your neck.
Go over the face-framing locks with a curling iron to reaffirm the curls. Spritz with a hairspray to complete the look.
