In Conversation With Nitibha Kaul
Manifest: How are you feeling these days?
Nitibha Kaul: I'm feeling fabulous, I just got back from my vacation and have slipped into a routine. I also followed the Dry January. So far, so good and work is picking up, too. I'm really excited for all that is in store for 2025.
M: How do you know you have found The One?
NK: Whenever I used to ask people who are in successful relationships or marriages as to how they found The One. And the one thing they mentioned was you’ll never have to ask that question to yourself. It’s a gut feeling and an instinct that tells you they are the right person. It's like when you know, you know the song.
M: How do you envision yourself as a bride?
NK: I think I’ll make for a bold and fearless bride. I have never been the kind to follow conventional norms. I know I’ll be myself completely because I’ll be surrounded by my closest people and my partner. I know I won’t be a minimalistic bride. I think I won’t hold back on anything–be it the colours, themes, glitz and glam. I’ll also tweak every custom and ritual that's followed in a traditional Hindu wedding to be one that stands for equality. There shouldn't be any element of misogyny or sexism. Also, my wedding will be an intimate affair because every ritual and custom should be respected. It has to be well executed with love and has to be performed with love and care.
M: Tell us about one thing you won’t be able to do without in your bridal vanity.
NK: I don’t think I’ll be able to do without translucent powder. I think compact or translucent powders are life saviours, especially since I'll be dancing a lot, meeting people, and sharing hugs and kisses with everyone. My make-up will keep moving… if I may add, I’d also add hairspray because I have frizzy and untamed hair.
M: Are there any beauty regimes or treatments you would like to follow before you tie the knot?
NK: I’d love to get a vampire facial and micro-needling to regenerate the collagen of my skin. I got it done and loved the result. I’d also love to get a Hydra facial to ensure my skin looks glowy. Lastly, a Q-switch laser to ensure there is less pigmentation.
M: The Latina make-up look is trending on Reels. Nitibha, do you think it will look good on a bride?
NK: I believe every bride should express herself the way she wants to. Latina make-up has bold lashes, a sharp cat eye winged eyeliner—all elements for bridal make-up. And when you’re getting married it is important to express yourself. Just because Bollywood is going for minimal make-up doesn’t mean you have to go with the same. Be a diva and express yourself because that makes you who you are. Also, what I love is that Latinas have well-defined lips. When you line your lips with a brown lip pencil and do a nude lip it looks amazing on them! If I was recreating this look, I would definitely add on some gloss.
M: How do we recreate it?
NK: Latina make-up has a full-coverage base, so ensure your base routine is done perfectly to the T. Use a high-coverage foundation, and set any imperfections with a concealer. Lightly use a setting powder and seal it with a make-up setting spray. Focus on your eyes and lashes because they are the real heroes of the look. Use slightly more wispier lashes to enhance your natural eye shape. Next, do a cut crease because that makes all the difference. Don’t forget to add light brown lenses. Focus on sculpting your face using a cream contour and set it with a light brown bronzer to mimic the dusky undertone of Latin-American women. For the lips line your cupid’s bow with a dark brown lip liner. Add nude brown lipstick and merge it well.
M: The boyfriend skin effect is going viral on the Internet… Do you think being with Jag has perhaps improved your skin
NK: Boyfriend skin is true because, when you're with the right person, you are radiating from within. I don’t think it’s just a myth because it is scientifically proven that when you are happy—your thoughts are positive. And when you're with the right person, your wavelength aligns with the wavelength of the Universe. It brings you all blessings, all the positive affirmations, and your manifestations come true.
M: Do you both share your skincare?
NK: Oh no, absolutely not! If you have seen my recent reel you know I posted all the skincare products that I use versus the two minimal products that he uses. My skincare stash is full, you can see we are poles apart. But his skin is still way better than mine! It’s strange that men have better skin without having to literally do anything. They literally wash their face with a bar of soap and it still works for them except for us ladies who have invested time and a lot of money in skincare…
M: Tell us about the one thing you love and cherish about your partner.
NK: I love how comfortable he makes me feel to be my authentic self. I think that, for me, is the biggest sign of a happy, successful relationship where you can truly be who you want to be. You can be silly, sexy, vulnerable, angry, or elated…you have the freedom to express yourself without really thinking the person is going to judge you. I have always believed that kind of a relationship can only be shared with your family. But to have that kind of comfort with my partner truly makes me believe that he is the right person and I want to hold on to it.
