Anshula Kapoor’s Patola-Phulkari Wedding Invitation Is An Ode to Textiles

Between finding the perfect wedding outfit, securing the perfect venue, finding a photographer that aligns with your sensibilities, and curating an impressive wedding menu, one aspect that, more often than not, gets overlooked while wedding planning, is the invitation. Among the seemingly-more-substantial aspects of a wedding, this may seem a little inconsequential. However it’s far from that and for Anshula Kapoor, her invite turned out to be a rather talked-about aspect of her wedding. 

While it’s been over a month since Anshula Kapoor tied the knot with her longtime partner, Rohan Thakkar, surrounded by close family and friends, she recently posted a video on her Instagram, talking about how she incorporated subtle little details in her wedding invitation that told the couple’s story. Designed by Pixie Dust, the wedding invitation paid a tribute to Anshula’s Punjabi roots, along with Rohan’s Gujarati roots. It featured Patola, which originates from Punjab, woven together with Phulkari, which finds its roots in Gujarat, to symbolise the coming together of the two cultures.

Even their wedding logo was bilingual in nature, weaving the hindi alphabet for ‘A’, with the English alphabet, R. This was a symbol of the amalgamation of the two families.  Additionally, the coral and pink colour of the invitation was a reference to the colour of Anshula’s wedding lehenga, while the gold was a reference to Anshula’s mother’s wedding dupatta, paying a subtle homage to her.
