    Let the fun begin

Weddings have always been a fun amalgamation of serious rituals and some fun traditions that whilst holding deep-seated beliefs, bring a little mischievous vibe to a couple’s big day. And director Aryan Khan recently found himself in the middle of some similar mischievous traditions, the kind that soon turned dramatic when his competitive spirit rose to the surface.

Aryan Khan turned his best friend’s wedding into his own playground during the popular ‘joota churai’ ritual as he fully engaged in the playful chaos. A video from Rhea Nadkarni and Maahir Mehta shared by Zesst Events has started making the rounds on the internet, where Aryan can be seen dressed casually in jeans and a brown jacket. He is captured holding on to the groom’s shoes tightly while the members from the bride’s side try to steal it, as per the ritual. However, Aryan refuses to give in, and what follows is a tug-of-war between Aryan and the bride’s family members. The video showed Aryan almost losing his balance after sometime but he still did not let go of the groom’s shoes, despite the constant attempts to snatch the shoe. He can also be seen pulling and dodging others in the crowd occasionally. The video finally ends with him successfully running away with the shoes. The planners captioned the video, "An afternoon that turned into a full-blown battle of love, laughter & a whole bit of chaos."

They further wrote, “When the Groom’s best friend is the BA****S of Bollywood. Between sneaky steals, dramatic negotiations, and laughter echoing through every corner — this wasn’t just joota churai, it was a total dhamaal.” The text on the video read, “Joota churai turned into a full-blown mini war!”

The video that was posted on April 9 was quick to garner widespread attention as fans began re-sharing the video. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) re-shared the video. They wrote, “What is really happening here man,” with laughter and crying emojis. While another wrote, “I thought koi lafda hogaya (I thought there was some issue).” The fans found the video hilarious and praised Aryan for not giving up and coming out of the fight successful.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
