In under a year, he’s travelled across continents to attend 88 wedding functions, donned countless designer ensembles, posed for thousands of photos and videos, and collected enough gossip to fuel a Netflix docuseries—only to develop a deep disdain for weddings.

In Conversation with Orry
Manifest: What’s your earliest memory of a wedding?
Orry: It has to be Isha Ambani’s…remember Beyoncé in Udaipur? Dolce & Gabbana designed the décor for the festivities held in Lake Como. Hillary Clinton, among other guests, watched Nita Ambani perform. Also, it was the first of the Ambani weddings, which set the format for all the weddings that happened in India.
M: Tell us how it all began—how did you turn into a serial wedding attendee?
O: I guess it happened when people realised that my attendance comes with a price tag—and it’s actually very affordable…just the cost of one kidney.

M: What, according to you, makes people want you at their weddings?
O: People say I have a very uplifting aura—that my mere presence elevates a party. When I walk in, the energy and entertainment skyrocket, as does the market value of the wedding. If you don’t believe me, ask anyone whose wedding I’ve attended. I’ve been told that my aura is magnetic…it just pulls people in. Mind you, Rihanna came for me, and so did Justin Bieber [at Radhika and Anant Ambani’s wedding in 2024]—I didn’t go to them, and there’s video proof of that.
M: You’ve mentioned that you’ve attended over 88 wedding functions in less than a year. How did you manage that—and what was the aftermath?
O: To be honest, even I don’t know! Sometimes, I had to attend two weddings in one night. I guess I have a natural, ecstatic energy…that’s my secret superpower. And the aftermath? My bank balance was at zero, and I had no life. The last few months, all I’ve done is attend weddings, so when that dizzying circuit got over, I had literally nothing left. I had no social life, no work, no friends. So now I have a rule: if I don’t know the couple personally—or I’m not getting paid to show up—I ain’t coming.

M: Do you have a wedding uniform or a go-to emergency outfit?
O: No, I just wear whatever I feel like in that moment. I have a lot of clothes, and designers are obsessed with sending me outfits, so putting together a look is never an issue. I just try not to over-layer so that I don’t sweat, and I hate jackets with restrictive sleeves.
M: Be honest—do you ever rewear looks, or is every invite an excuse for a new ensemble?
O: I usually don’t rewear. Like I mentioned, designers are obsessed with dressing me. But, having said that, I won’t shy away from repeating clothes—they are my clothes!
M: Have you ever had a wardrobe malfunction at a wedding that still haunts you?
O: The only wardrobe malfunctions that haunt me are the ones that failed to happen.

M: If you could pass on one piece of wedding wisdom to future brides and grooms, what would it be?
O: No one cares about your wedding—it isn’t the centre of anyone else’s universe but your own. Stop having weird expectations from your guests.
M: What’s the biggest Bollywood-worthy melodrama you’ve ever caused—or been part of—at a wedding?
O: I’m not going to tell you whose wedding it was, but I had an upset stomach and…let’s just say there was a minor soiling of pants situation. #WhoopsieDidAPoopsie.

M: What’s the moment you always look forward to, no matter how many weddings you attend?
O: I do not look forward to weddings…
M: Lastly, how many weddings have you RSVP’d to this upcoming season?
O: “Now I have a rule: if I don’t know the couple personally or getting paid to show up, I ain’t coming. And this time I am only attending five based on my new rule.”
