The celebrations are in full swing for Indian filmmaker and music composer Palaash Muchhal and women’s Indian cricket team’s batter Smriti Mandhana as the couple heads towards their big day. Smriti and Palaash kicked off their wedding celebrations on November 21 with a vibrant Haldi ceremony. The bride-to-be was dressed in a short kurta paired with palazzo pants that were both designed in bright yellow. The palette was further enriched by intricate embroidery and embellishments on the yoke and border of the kurta.

Smriti’s Haldi look was completed with a yellow dupatta to match her fit. She had kept her accessories minimal, with a maang tika on her head and a set of multi-layered earrings dangling from her ears, to maintain her pre-wedding look as both traditional and contemporary. Meanwhile, Palaash had adorned a yellow kurta, complementing both the vibe of the ceremony and Smriti’s look. His kurta was embellished with intricate mirror work that completed the festive look.

While the couple prepared for their Haldi ceremony, Palaash’s sister, Palak Muchhal gave her Instagram followers and the fans of the brother-sister duo a glimpse into her brother’s Haldi ceremony, where he was seen wearing a classic white kurta.

While the Haldi ceremony was a hit in every sense, what followed was even more heartwarming as photos and videos from the duo’s Mehendi ceremony surfaced soon after. Their Mehendi function was indeed all about love as the photos captured sweet moments that the couple spent with their friends and family. The photos that have now become the new Internet obsession show that the ceremony was attended by Smriti’s teammates and the joy and excitement are reflected through each of the snapshots.

For her Mehendi ceremony, Smriti Mandhana had adorned a purple traditional outfit while Palaash Muchhal wore a cream kurta paired with an embroidered jacket. Smriti’s purple outfit was perfectly adorned with intricate designs, giving her look just the right look of a Bollywood bride while Pallash’s embroidered jacket complemented the festive mood.

Several pictures and videos from the couple’s pre-wedding functions captured how their friends and Smriti’s teammates were an active part of their rituals and traditions. Ever since the internet got flooded by glimpses from the couple’s joyous moments, their fans and well-wishers have been very quick to drop their congratulatory messages on the photos and videos, expressing their excitement. While the couple have not shared any of their moments themselves, the internet is still abuzz with their beautiful moments as they make their way into a new chapter of their life.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
