Two Cultures, One Heart: Shikha & Moe’s Island Wedding Story

Some love stories slip in quietly. Others cross borders and cultures before finally finding where they belong. Shikha and Moe’s story? It took the long road—stretching from Imperial College London, across oceans, through years and changes, until it settled into a life that really felt like theirs. Their photographer, The Movie’ing Moments, didn’t just snap pictures of rituals—they chased the heartbeat of a relationship that had travelled a long way to get here.

Shikha grew up in Mauritius, then packed her bags for London at 18 to study clinical pharmacy. Moe, British-Lebanese and every bit a Londoner, was already making moves in health tech. When they met as colleagues in 2018, it just clicked. Two pharmacists with big dreams and easy laughs—first friends, then something more. Life had other plans, though. They spent 18 months apart, holding things together with late-night FaceTime calls and a steady faith that distance couldn’t shake. Even when COVID threw the world off balance, their connection only got stronger.

When Shikha returned to London in 2022, suddenly everything lined up. She switched careers, launched her Ayurvedic haircare brand Resèt, and Moe was right there—her anchor, her biggest supporter. Together, they built something new. A year later, Moe proposed on a quiet beach in Crete, laying out a deck of handwritten memory cards that traced every step of their journey. Their photographer later recreated those memories in pictures, catching the tenderness of that moment.

Their wedding wasn’t just a day—it was a journey through two countries. It started with a small civil ceremony in London on February 22, 2025, followed by dinner at Moe’s favourite Lebanese spot.

Two months later, they brought everyone to Mauritius for an Indian-Lebanese wedding that was all colour, culture, and emotion. The sangeet at Shikha’s family home was pure magic—fairy lights, music, performances, and Moe jumping in for a surprise dance.

The next morning’s haldi felt like a tropical festival. Mauritian food, coconut water, mojitos, a bangle bar, and poolside splashing set the mood. The photos popped with sunlight, marigolds, greenery, and that wild, happy chaos you only get at a good haldi.

On April 19, Shikha and Moe said their vows at Lux Grand Gaube, right by the beach. One really special part: the private vow reading that morning. The photographer hung back, letting emotion take the lead. Moe made his entrance with a Lebanese zaffe, and Shikha wore an olive and white Tarun Tahiliani lehenga that blended Lebanese lines with Indian detail—every bit of it captured in photos that tell the story of two worlds coming together.

The last celebration was at Château de Labourdonnais, a black-tie reception with champagne on the terrace, live violin, a sparkling cake tower, and a dance floor that swung from Dabke to Bollywood. The photographer had a field day—movement, intimacy, joy in every frame.
