Sabyasachi opens up about what went on behind the scenes of creating Rani Mukerji's wedding attire.Instagram

Designer Sabyasachi is known to create breathtaking bridal attire; his craftsmanship is one that is incredibly well sought-after, and it is for good reason. For instance, in a recent interview, the designer revealed just how much he enjoyed working on Rani Mukerji’s wedding-wear and the chaotic story behind how he did it! The couturier is known to have created bridalwear for celebrities such as Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma, and Priyanka Chopra, and we’re sure that has to come with some fun tales to tell.

During a recent conversation with Pernia Qureshi on the podcast Fashionably Pernia, the designer not only shared the chaotic moments amidst crafting Rani Mukerji’s bridal attire, but also revealed just how chilled out and relaxed she was to work with as a bride!

Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra had been rumoured to be in a relationship with each other for years, but the two had never gone on record to confirm it..

Cut to 2014, and the couple tied the knot in an intimate, traditional Bengali ceremony in Italy!  In the recent interview with Pernia Qureshi, Sabyasachi shared that Rani Mukerji disclosed that the couple are set to get married merely one week before the wedding.

“She came over for lunch one day and said that she is getting married. I asked her how much time I had, and she said one week. I had to put something together in that much time. It’s fun when people enjoy their wedding. It just makes the process of designing for them so much more fun,” he explained in the interview.

The couple got married in April 2014, and the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actor sent out an official announcement saying, "I would like to share the happiest day of my life with all my fans all over the world, whose love and blessings have been part of my journey all these years. I know that all my well-wishers who have waited for this day will be really happy for me."

Sources close to the couple had even shared that Aditya Chopra planned the wedding with great detail, apparently, he knew that Rani Mukerji wanted a traditional Bengali wedding, and so had that organised. Though it was also briefly rumoured that the couple would tie the knot in Udaipur,  ultimately, the director and producer planned it out to take place in Italy.

The couple has been private about their personal life over the years, and these heart-warming BTS details from their wedding have made our day!

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
