For instance, in a recent interview, the designer revealed just how much he enjoyed working on Rani Mukerji’s wedding-wear and the chaotic story behind how he did it! During a recent conversation with Pernia Qureshi on the podcast Fashionably Pernia, the designer not only shared the chaotic moments amidst crafting Rani Mukerji’s bridal attire, but also revealed just how chilled out and relaxed she was to work with as a bride!
Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra had been rumoured to be in a relationship with each other for years, but the two had never gone on record to confirm it..
Cut to 2014, and the couple tied the knot in an intimate, traditional Bengali ceremony in Italy! In the recent interview with Pernia Qureshi, Sabyasachi shared that Rani Mukerji disclosed that the couple are set to get married merely one week before the wedding.
“She came over for lunch one day and said that she is getting married. I asked her how much time I had, and she said one week. I had to put something together in that much time. It’s fun when people enjoy their wedding. It just makes the process of designing for them so much more fun,” he explained in the interview.
The couple got married in April 2014, and the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actor sent out an official announcement saying, "I would like to share the happiest day of my life with all my fans all over the world, whose love and blessings have been part of my journey all these years. I know that all my well-wishers who have waited for this day will be really happy for me."
Sources close to the couple had even shared that Aditya Chopra planned the wedding with great detail, apparently, he knew that Rani Mukerji wanted a traditional Bengali wedding, and so had that organised. Though it was also briefly rumoured that the couple would tie the knot in Udaipur, ultimately, the director and producer planned it out to take place in Italy.
