Alia Bhatt just inaugurated the Bharat Pavilion at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, and her look for the event was truly to a homage to India. The look, which was her third one at the Cannes Film Festival 2026, is the sartorial equivalent of Indian opulence. While the other two looks were all about French sophistication, this one was an ode to Indian grandeur.

She wore a draped ivory ensemble by Tarun Tahiliani, which is an interpretation of the Indian sari. It features beautifully done draping on a concept sari, the house's signature style. The sari amalgamates structure with fluidity, and Victorian corsetry with Indian drapes. The corset, which features a plunging neckline and tone-on-tone embroidery, is paired with a matching dhoti skirt, which extends into a trail.

Leaning further into the rich Indian aesthetic, the outfit is paired with accessories that embody India—a bindi, a little nath from Ishhaara, haathphool from Tangerine Bio Jewelry, anklets from Tarun Tahiliani, and a pair of tiny, traditional earrings from Sunita Kapoor's personal collection.

This pristine white look was paired with the hair and make-up that was just as spotless. Her make-up artist, Puneet B Saini, stuck to Alia's signature fresh and dewy look with peachy lips, matching barely-there eyeshadow, light blush, and little highlighter for an effortlessly chic look. This was paired with middle-parted natural waves for the hair.

If you are a bridesmaid-to-be looking to take inspiration from Alia's look this season, you can invest in a concept sari that blends opulence with effortlessness. Needless to say, this is a great time to embrace ivory, given that it's the Pantone colour of the year, so go for an ivory sari. Go all out on the drama by pairing it with traditional Indian jewellery— haathphool, kamarbandh, nath, the works! You can even add a touch of vintage charm to your look by adding some pearls.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
