Kurtas and bandhgalas with wide-legged pants are taking over, and we are here for it!

The wedding season is upon us, and if you are a groom-to-be who likes to put their best fashion foot forward, you’re probably knee deep in wedding shopping right now. Even if you are a wedding attendee who likes to serve some serious OOTD inspiration, you’ve probably been planning your looks for a while now. And while there are a bunch of cool trends for men that were seen on the runways recently, if you are going to be following one trend this wedding season, let it be relaxed trousers!

We love an elegant kurta with churidar, or an exquisite sherwani with beautifully draped dhoti pants, but one silhouette we’ve been seeing everywhere—whether with kurtas or sherwanis or bandhgalas—is the relaxed trousers. Men’s fashion seems to be in its chilled out era in general, but especially in regards to Indian occasionwear, relaxed trousers are having a major moment.

Recently, Vijay Varma was spotted wearing the most stunning bandhgala at Manish Malhotra’s Diwali party with easy, relaxed pants that flared out ever so lightly at the hem. The silhouette of the pants significantly added to the drama and the old world charm of the look.

    Flared pants FTW!

Speaking of pants that flare out at the bottom, if Kendrick Lamar’s famous flared jeans moment at the Superbowl earlier this year, and the immense love that it got is anything to go by, then flared pants are not going anywhere, any time soon. Thankfully, this also applies to Indian occasionwear for men.

As a man, you should definitely invest in well-tailored relaxed trousers this wedding season, but if you want to go one step further, and if you're willing to have a little more fun, we suggest getting flared trousers. Not only is it super cool, but the beautiful bootcut silhouette looks extremely flattering on tall, slender body types.

Flared pants might not be the epitome of masculinity, or in line with the raw and rugged vibe that some men like to convey, but that's what makes them so special. They're beautiful, elegant, and unapologetically chic. It's an acquired taste, if you will.

The art of relaxed pants is subtle yet powerful. Men have always paired their Bandhgalas, sherwanis, kurtas, and achkans with the salwar, churidar, or dhoti pants. And when they did wear trousers, it was restricted to straight pants. With designers like Tarun Tahiliani designing for the man who likes their pants relaxed, this niche trend has been gaining acceptance by the mainstream. With mainstream Indian actors embracing this lovely trend, it’s expected to no longer be seen as an esoteric style, and might trickle down to the masses.

We, for one, love a man who is willing to embrace their fun, creative side!

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
